What is the format of the Foundation and Practitioner exams?

The Foundation exam is closed book with single-answer multiple-choice questions. The Practitioner exam is closed book and scenario-based, presenting project situations that require you to apply BA techniques. Both can be taken online proctored or at an accredited test location.

How many questions are in each exam and what is the pass mark?

Each exam has 40 questions and lasts 60 minutes. The pass mark for both is 65%, which is 26 out of 40 correct answers.

How do the two exams differ?

Foundation tests knowledge and comprehension across 14 topic areas using straightforward multiple-choice questions. Practitioner tests application and analysis across seven topic areas using scenario-based questions that mirror real project situations.

Where can I take the exams?

Both exams are available online through EXIN's proctored exam system or at an EXIN accredited test location. They are typically arranged as part of the combined training and dual exam bundle.

What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You can re-sit an exam by booking another voucher. Our trainers provide first-attempt guidance, mock exams and practice questions for both levels to help you prepare thoroughly. Confirm the current re-sit policy at the time of your exam.
