    Course Content

    What topics does the course cover?

    The course covers six modules across the DMADV phases: an introduction to DFSS and DMADV, the Define phase (VOC and Kano), the Measure phase (CTQ flow-down and QFD), the Analyse phase (concept generation, Pugh matrix and Design FMEA), the Design phase (robust design and DFMA), and the Verify phase (verification, validation and design transfer).

    How long is the training?

    The programme runs for one day (8 hours), covering all six DMADV phases with concept explanations, real-world design case study examples and hands-on tool exercises. A half-day format spread over two sessions is also available.

    What DFSS tools will I practise?

    You practise the core DFSS tools hands-on, including VOC to CTQ flow-down, the Quality Function Deployment House of Quality, the Pugh concept selection matrix and the Design FMEA worksheet, all applied to realistic product or process design scenarios.

    Does the course cover the DMADV methodology specifically?

    Yes. DMADV (Define, Measure, Analyse, Design, Verify) is the primary DFSS roadmap taught on the course. You also gain awareness of alternative frameworks such as IDOV and DMADOV and how organisations adapt the roadmap to their own development process.

    Are hands-on exercises included?

    Yes. Hands-on exercises run throughout the day using realistic design scenarios, so you apply each tool as you learn it rather than only reviewing theory. This helps you take the methodology straight back to your own design work.
