What is the PgMP certification and who is it for?

The Program Management Professional (PgMP) is PMI's senior credential for professionals who manage multiple related projects as a coordinated programme to deliver strategic benefits. It is designed for senior programme managers, PMO leaders and PMP holders stepping up to programme scope.

Is the PgMP worth it for programme managers in Jamaica?

Yes. The PgMP validates senior programme leadership and opens roles such as Senior Programme Manager, Head of PMO and Programme Director, where Jamaican pay bands reach well above J$4.6M a year. With fewer than 3,000 holders worldwide, it is a strong differentiator. Talk to a learning advisor about your path.

Do I need PMP before PgMP?

No. PMP is not a mandatory prerequisite for PgMP. However, an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their programme management experience.

Is the PgMP recognised in Jamaica?

Yes. The PgMP is a globally recognised PMI credential valued by employers across Jamaica and worldwide, including banks, BPO and global services firms, telecoms and public-sector organisations that run large programmes of work.

How long is the PgMP valid and how do I renew it?

The PgMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle, with at least 8 PDUs in each area, within every three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle.

How much does PgMP training cost in Jamaica?

PgMP training fees vary by format and schedule, so pricing is available on request. The PMI exam fee is billed separately in USD under regional pricing and is not part of the training fee. Request a quote for current batch pricing.

What is included in the PgMP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, downloadable templates, application and panel-review support, learner support and a course completion certificate with contact hours.

Is the PMI exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the PgMP exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing (for reference, around USD 800 for members and USD 1,000 for non-members). PMI membership can lower the exam fee, so verify current figures at pmi.org before applying.

What is the format of the PgMP exam?

The PgMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition. It is delivered online through Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The PgMP exam has 170 questions and an allotted time of four hours. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement.

What are the five PgMP exam domains and their weights?

The five performance domains are Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%), as set out in the PgMP ECO.

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PgMP. A panel of programme management practitioners evaluates your documented experience. It is mandatory in addition to the written exam, and both must be passed to earn the credential.

What happens if I do not pass the exam, can I retake it?

Yes. PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period from application approval. Reexamination fees apply to the second and third attempts; confirm the current amounts at pmi.org before rebooking.

Course Content

What topics does the PgMP training cover?

The training covers the five PgMP performance domains: Strategic Program Management, Program Life Cycle Management, Benefits Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Governance, plus application guidance and exam strategy.

Which standard and edition is the training based on?

The courseware is aligned to The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, and the current PgMP Examination Content Outline. The 4th Edition standard is the primary reference framework the exam draws on.

Are practice questions and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes scenario-based practice questions, full-length mock exams and topic-wise quizzes mapped to the 170-question, four-hour format so you can identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Can you help me document my experience for the application?

Yes. We provide guidance on documenting your project and programme management experience for the PMI application and on preparing for the subject-matter-expert panel review, a step that catches many first-time applicants.

Will I receive a certificate of completion after the training?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate along with the contact hours earned through the programme, which count towards your professional development.

What are the eligibility requirements for the PgMP?

PgMP eligibility follows three sets. With a secondary diploma you need 48 months of project management experience (or an active PMP) plus 84 months of programme management experience; with a four-year degree the programme requirement drops to 48 months, all within the past 15 years.

How do I enrol in the PgMP course?
