Is PMP required before the PMI-CP?

No. PMP is not a prerequisite for the PMI-CP. You can apply based on your construction project management experience and education. The two are complementary, and many construction professionals in Israel hold both.

Is the PMI-CP recognised internationally?

Yes. As a PMI credential, the PMI-CP carries global recognition through PMI's network across more than 200 countries. It is valued in international construction markets, which matters for Israeli professionals working with global contractors and consultancies.

For reference, PMI lists the exam at around USD 520 for members and USD 670 for non-members; actual prices vary, so confirm current fees at pmi.org. PMI membership can reduce the exam cost. The four prerequisite modules are purchased separately from PMI.

What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam is closed book with multiple-choice questions, including single-answer and multiple-answer formats. It is based on the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and delivered online with Pearson VUE OnVUE or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

How many questions are on the PMI-CP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 120 questions and an allotted time of 230 minutes, which is 3 hours and 50 minutes. Questions are distributed across the four exam domains.

What are the eligibility requirements for the PMI-CP?

You must complete all four mandatory self-paced modules, then meet one experience set: a secondary diploma with 60 months of construction PM experience, a bachelor's degree with 36 months, or a GAC-accredited degree with 24 months, each within the past 10 years, plus 35 contact hours of PM education.

What is the passing score and how many attempts do I get?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score rather than a fixed percentage, with results reported by domain. You may take up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility window from application approval.

How long is the PMI-CP valid and how do I renew it?

The PMI-CP is valid for three years. You renew by earning 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle within each three-year cycle. The 56 PDUs from the four prerequisite modules can be applied toward renewal.

What topics does the PMI-CP training cover?

The training covers the four exam domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%), from pre-construction contracts through closeout, plus exam strategy and application guidance.

What are the four prerequisite modules?

Before applying, you complete four self-paced PMI modules in any order: Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management. Each is a 6 to 10 hour commitment awarding 14 PDUs, 56 PDUs in total.

Which standard is the training aligned to?

The training is aligned to the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline (ECO) and the PMBOK Guide, along with construction industry standards and practices referenced by PMI. This keeps your preparation current with what the exam tests.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full-length mock exams aligned to the 120-question, 230-minute format, plus topic-wise quizzes to help you find weak areas and build exam readiness.

Do I need prior experience to follow the training?

The training is designed for working construction professionals, so some site or project experience helps. You do not need it to attend, but the PMI-CP exam itself requires the experience set described in the eligibility questions.
