What is the format of the PfMP exam?

The PfMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PfMP Examination Content Outline and the Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition. It covers five performance domains and uses scenario and situational questions.

How many questions are on the PfMP exam and how long is it?

The PfMP exam has 170 questions and an allotted time of four hours (240 minutes). It is delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What are the PfMP exam domains and their weights?

Five domains: Strategic Alignment (25%), Governance (20%), Portfolio Performance (25%), Portfolio Risk Management (14%) and Communications Management (16%). Focus on broad mastery across all five.

What is the passing score for the PfMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. The result is determined through psychometric analysis, with domain-level feedback such as Above Target or Target, so build broad competence across all five domains.

What if I do not pass the first time?

You may take up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period, and our prep and mock exams are designed to build first-attempt readiness. Reexamination fees apply to the second and third attempts; confirm current amounts on the PMI store.

Do I need prior experience to take this course?

Anyone can attend the training, but the PfMP is a senior credential. To sit the exam, PMI requires substantial business experience plus portfolio management experience within the last 15 years, and you must pass a subject-matter-expert panel review.

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams, an exam simulator and topic-wise quizzes to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness across all five domains.
