Is CSM certification worth it in the Dominican Republic?

How long is the CSM certification valid?

CSM is valid for two years. To renew, you earn 16 Scrum Education Units (SEUs) and pay the Scrum Alliance membership renewal fee. SEUs can be earned through courses, conferences, coaching, mentoring and self-study.

What is the next step after CSM?

The Advanced Certified ScrumMaster (A-CSM) is the next level in the Scrum Alliance Scrum Master track, covering advanced facilitation and coaching. CSM is the mandatory prerequisite, and A-CSM also expects experience in a Scrum Master role after certifying.

What is the format of the CSM exam?

The CSM exam has 50 multiple-choice questions and a 60-minute time limit. It is open book and taken online through the Scrum Alliance member portal after you complete an approved course. No proctor is required.

What is the passing score for the CSM exam?

The passing score is 74%, meaning you must answer at least 37 of the 50 questions correctly. The course and practice questions are designed to prepare you thoroughly for this threshold.

How many attempts do I get for the CSM exam?

Candidates typically have three attempts to pass the CSM exam within 90 days of completing the course. If you do not pass at first, our trainers help you review weak areas so you are ready for your next attempt.

Is the CSM exam open or closed book?

The CSM exam is open book, so you can refer to materials during the online test. Even so, a solid grasp of the Scrum framework, events and artefacts helps you answer accurately within the 60-minute window.

What standard is the CSM exam based on?

The exam is based on the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives, aligned to the current November 2020 Scrum Guide by Ken Schwaber and Jeff Sutherland. Topics span Scrum theory, values, the team, events, artefacts and the Scrum Master role.

What topics does the CSM course cover?

The course covers the six Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objective areas: Scrum theory and principles, the five Scrum values, the Scrum Team, the five Scrum events, the three Scrum artefacts, and the Scrum Master role and servant leadership.

Can a beginner take the CSM course?

Yes. CSM is an entry-level certification with no prerequisites, so beginners are welcome. The course builds your understanding of Scrum step by step, with hands-on facilitation practice and real delivery examples.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest Scrum Guide?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current November 2020 Scrum Guide and the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives, so you learn the Product Goal, Sprint Goal and Definition of Done as the framework defines them today.

How long is the CSM training?

The CSM programme runs for 16 hours of instruction, delivered either as two full days or four half-days, which exceeds the Scrum Alliance minimum contact-hours requirement. The schedule you choose depends on the batch and format.
