What is the format of the PgMP exam?

The PgMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and the Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition. It covers five performance domains through single- and multiple-answer questions.

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 170 questions and an allotted time of four hours. It is delivered online through Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What are the PgMP exam domains and their weights?

Five domains: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%), aligned to the current PgMP Examination Content Outline.

What is the passing score for the PgMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. Results are determined through psychometric analysis and reported as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement by domain, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to PgMP. A panel of programme management practitioners evaluates your documented experience. It is mandatory alongside the written exam, and both must be passed to earn the credential.

What happens if I do not pass the exam?

PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Reexamination fees apply to the second and third attempts, so confirm the current amounts on pmi.org before rebooking.

What are the eligibility requirements for PgMP?

PMI sets three routes. With a four-year degree you need 48 months of project management experience (or an active PMP) plus 48 months of programme management experience within the past 15 years; a secondary diploma route requires 84 months of programme experience.
