What Is Six Sigma Awareness Training?UntitledA Practical Introduction to Data-Driven Quality

The Six Sigma Awareness Training is a one-day, non-certification course that introduces the Six Sigma methodology, a data-driven approach to reducing process variation and eliminating defects. It gives employees, managers and leaders in Costa Rica a clear, working understanding of how process improvement is run, without needing to become a practising Green Belt or Black Belt. You will explore the DMAIC roadmap (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control), core concepts such as defects, variation and Defects Per Million Opportunities, the Six Sigma role hierarchy, and how Lean Six Sigma combines waste reduction with variation control. First developed at Motorola in the 1980s and made famous by GE, the methodology now underpins quality and operational excellence programmes across Costa Rica's medical device, manufacturing and global services employers. Delivered in live virtual and onsite formats, this awareness course helps your people speak the same improvement language and contribute to projects from day one. On completion you receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning. Start building a shared quality culture with Invensis Learning.

Why Costa Rican Employers Need Improvement Skills

    Zero-Defect Pressure in Medical Devices

Costa Rica's medical device plants operate in tightly regulated, zero-defect environments where variation and defects carry real cost. Six Sigma awareness helps staff support the quality goals these sites depend on.

Awareness helps staff support quality goals

    Rapid Free Trade Zone Expansion

With more than 230,000 square metres of new industrial space under construction, employers are onboarding thousands of staff who need a shared improvement language fast.

Onboard new teams with one improvement language

Deep Practitioner Pool, Thin Awareness Base

Plants employ skilled Six Sigma practitioners, but projects stall when the wider workforce cannot follow DMAIC or the vocabulary. Awareness training closes that gap.

Awareness closes the DMAIC understanding gap

    Global Services Efficiency Demands

GBS and BPO centres serving US clients compete on process quality and speed, pushing Lean Six Sigma thinking into everyday operations across Costa Rica.

Lean Six Sigma thinking for everyday operations

    Regulated-Environment Compliance

Pharma and life science operations must evidence controlled, capable processes. Staff who understand variation and control help support audits and compliance.

Support audits with a grasp of variation and control

    Rising Cost of Poor Quality

Rework, scrap and delays erode margins across manufacturing and services. Teams that grasp Six Sigma basics spot waste earlier and back the fixes that matter.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The Six Sigma Awareness Training is a one-day, non-certification course that introduces the Six Sigma methodology, its key concepts, the DMAIC roadmap, the Six Sigma roles and Lean Six Sigma. It is designed for employees, managers and leaders who want to understand and support improvement projects without becoming practising Green Belts or Black Belts.

    General

What is the Six Sigma Awareness Training?

The Six Sigma Awareness Training is a one-day, non-certification course that introduces the Six Sigma methodology, its key concepts, the DMAIC roadmap, the Six Sigma roles and Lean Six Sigma. It is designed for employees, managers and leaders who want to understand and support improvement projects without becoming practising Green Belts or Black Belts.

Is Six Sigma Awareness Training worth it?

Yes. In one day your team gains a practical grounding in how process improvement works and can start contributing to projects straight away. Across Costa Rica's medical device, manufacturing and services employers, staff who understand Six Sigma and can support Lean Six Sigma work are increasingly valued.

Who should attend this Six Sigma course in Costa Rica?

The course suits employees and team members who support improvement projects, managers and supervisors leading those teams, senior leaders who sponsor Six Sigma work, and anyone considering a future Yellow Belt or Green Belt. No prior quality or statistical background is assumed.

Do I need prior quality or statistics knowledge?

No. The course has no prerequisites and is built for a general audience. Concepts like variation, defects and DPMO are explained clearly with real workplace examples, so anyone can follow along regardless of their role or background.

How is this different from a Green Belt or Black Belt course?

This is an awareness-level introduction, not a practitioner programme. It does not qualify you to lead DMAIC projects. It is the ideal first step before Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt, Green Belt or Black Belt training, giving you the context and vocabulary to progress with confidence.

    Pricing

How much does Six Sigma Awareness Training cost in Costa Rica?

Pricing depends on the delivery mode and group size, so the fee is available on request. Corporate and group rates are offered for teams and whole sites. Request a quote and a learning advisor will share options that suit your needs.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee covers instruction across all six Six Sigma awareness modules, structured courseware, interactive discussion and case examples, and a course completion record from Invensis Learning. There is no separate exam fee, as this is a non-certification course.

Do you offer corporate or group pricing?

Yes. Six Sigma Awareness Training is frequently delivered to large employee groups as part of a programme launch, with volume-based corporate pricing and flexible onsite or live virtual delivery. Contact us for a tailored group quote.

Are there discounts for training a whole team?

Group and corporate delivery is priced by volume, so training a full team or site is more cost-effective per learner than individual enrolment. Ask about corporate pricing and a learning advisor will build a quote for your organisation.

How do I pay for the training?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and corporate bookings can be invoiced. Talk to a learning advisor to choose the option that works best for you or your team.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for this course?

No. Six Sigma Awareness Training is a non-certification course with no exam. Learning is reinforced through interactive discussion, real-world case examples and team exercises during the one-day programme.

What do I receive on completion?

On completing the one-day programme you receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning. It confirms your Six Sigma awareness training and the practical understanding you have built.

Does this course award a Six Sigma certification?

No formal certification or credential is awarded, as this is an awareness course with no governing body or exam. To earn a practitioner credential, progress to Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt or Green Belt training after building your awareness here.

    How is my learning assessed?

There is no formal assessment. Throughout the day you apply Six Sigma concepts to your own work context through interactive discussion and team exercises, which reinforces the learning in a practical way.

Can this lead to a Green Belt later?

Yes. The course is an ideal foundation for Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt or Green Belt learning. It gives you the concepts, vocabulary and DMAIC understanding that make the step up to a practitioner programme much smoother.

    Course Content

What topics does the Six Sigma Awareness course cover?

The course spans six modules: Six Sigma history and philosophy, key concepts and terminology, the DMAIC methodology, the Six Sigma roles, an awareness-level tour of key tools, and Lean Six Sigma in practice, all delivered in one day with case examples.

What is DMAIC and is it covered?

DMAIC is the core Six Sigma improvement roadmap: Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control. The course covers all five phases at awareness level, so you understand what happens in each and how tollgate reviews keep decisions grounded in data.

    How long is the training?

The programme runs for one day, covering all six modules with concept explanations, real-world case examples and interactive discussion. It is designed to give a complete awareness-level grounding in a single, focused session.

Will I learn Six Sigma tools?

Yes, at awareness level. You will understand how tools such as SIPOC, fishbone diagrams, Pareto charts, control charts, Gauge R&R and process capability are used within a DMAIC project, so you can follow what practitioners are doing and why.

Does the course cover Lean Six Sigma?

Yes. The course explains how Lean Six Sigma combines Lean waste and flow improvement with Six Sigma variation reduction, and how Lean tools like value stream mapping, 5S and Kaizen complement the DMAIC methodology.

Do I need software like Minitab for this course?

No. This is an awareness course, not a hands-on statistical programme, so no software is required. If you later progress to Green Belt, statistical tools such as Minitab become relevant at that practitioner stage.
