What is the format of the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam?

It is an open-book, scenario-based objective test. The Managing Successful Projects manual is permitted, and questions use multiple-choice, matching, sequence and assertion-reason formats that require analysis and judgement rather than simple recall.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The PRINCE2 7 Practitioner exam has 56 questions and sub-questions worth 70 marks, and you have 150 minutes (2 hours 30 minutes) to complete it.

What is the passing score for PRINCE2 Practitioner?

The pass mark is 60 per cent, which means at least 42 out of 70 marks. Because the exam is scenario-based, focus on applying and tailoring the method rather than memorising the manual.

What are the prerequisites for the Practitioner exam?

You must hold PRINCE2 Foundation or an accepted equivalent such as PMP, CAPM or IPMA Level A/B/C/D. There is no formal work-experience requirement, though the credential is designed for practising and aspiring project managers.

Where can I take the exam and what if I do not pass first time?

You can sit the exam online through PeopleCert's OnVUE proctoring, available 24/7, or at an authorised test centre. If you do not pass, you can rebook a resit; we build in open-book technique and mock practice to help you prepare. Talk to an advisor about resit options.
