    Do I need PMP before PgMP?

    PgMP is for programme managers coordinating related projects to deliver strategic benefits. PfMP is for portfolio managers aligning multiple programmes and projects to organisational strategy. PfMP is the next step above PgMP.

    How long is PgMP valid and how do I renew it?

    PgMP is valid for three years. To maintain it you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle, with at least 8 PDUs in each area, within every three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle.

    The fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, downloadable templates, application and panel-review support, learner support and a course completion certificate with contact hours.

    Is the PMI exam fee included in the training price?

    No. PMI bills the PgMP exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing (for reference, around USD 800 for members and USD 1,000 for non-members; verify current fees at pmi.org). Membership can lower both the exam and renewal costs.

    What is the format of the PgMP exam?

    The PgMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition. It is delivered via Pearson VUE online proctoring or at a test centre.

    How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

    The exam has 170 questions and an allotted time of four hours (240 minutes). It uses single-answer and multiple-answer multiple-choice formats.

    What are the PgMP exam domains and their weights?

    Five performance domains: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%).

    What is the passing score for the PgMP exam?

    PMI does not publish a fixed pass mark. The result is determined through psychometric analysis, with domain feedback reported as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement.

    What is the PgMP panel review?

    The panel review is a multi-rater assessment in which programme management practitioners evaluate your documented experience. Both the panel review and the written exam must be passed to earn PgMP.

    What happens if I do not pass the exam first time?

    PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts; confirm the current amounts at pmi.org.
