What if I do not pass the CSM exam first time?

What is the format of the CSM exam?

The CSM exam is an open-book, online, multiple-choice test taken through the Scrum Alliance member portal after you complete the course. No proctor is required.

How many questions are on the CSM exam and how long is it?

The exam has 50 multiple-choice questions with a 60-minute time limit. It is open book, so you can refer to materials during the exam.

What is the passing score for the CSM exam?

The passing score is 74 percent, which means answering at least 37 of the 50 questions correctly.

Can a beginner take the CSM course?

Yes. The CSM has no formal education or work experience prerequisite, so beginners are welcome. Hands-on, scenario-based sessions guide you from the basics of Scrum to exam readiness.

What topics does the CSM training cover?

The training covers six areas: Scrum theory and principles, the five Scrum values, the Scrum Team, Scrum events, Scrum artifacts and the Scrum Master role, all aligned to the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives.

How long is the CSM training?

The instructor-led course runs for 16 hours, delivered as two full days or four half-days. Scrum Alliance requires a minimum of 14 contact hours, which the programme exceeds.

What learning materials are provided?

You receive Scrum Alliance CSM aligned courseware, industry case studies illustrating facilitation and impediment removal, practice questions and revision resources.
