What is the format of the CSM exam?

The CSM exam is an online, open-book, multiple-choice test taken through the Scrum Alliance member portal after you complete the course. It is based on the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives and the current Scrum Guide.

How many questions are on the CSM exam and how long is it?

The CSM exam has 50 multiple-choice questions and a time limit of 60 minutes. It is taken online without a proctor after course completion.

What is the passing score for the CSM exam?

You need 74% to pass, which is 37 out of 50 questions correct. The exam tests knowledge and comprehension across the Scrum framework.

What happens if I do not pass the first time?

You have up to three attempts to pass within 90 days of completing the course. Your trainer-led preparation and practice questions are designed to help you pass on the first attempt.

When can I take the CSM exam after the course?

You can access the CSM exam through your Scrum Alliance member account within 90 days of completing the approved course. The course must be finished before the exam is unlocked.

What topics does the CSM training cover?

The training covers all six Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives areas: Scrum theory and principles, the five Scrum values, the Scrum Team, Scrum events, Scrum artifacts and the Scrum Master role.

Can a beginner take the CSM course?

Yes. The CSM is an entry-level certification with no prerequisites, so beginners are welcome. The course builds your Scrum knowledge from the ground up with a Certified Scrum Trainer.
