You take the exam online through your Scrum Alliance member account within 90 days of completing an approved CSM course. It is open book and unproctored, so you can sit it from home or the office once you feel ready.

Can a beginner take the CSM course?

Yes. There is no formal work experience or education requirement, so the CSM course suits those new to Scrum as well as team members formalising existing knowledge. The trainer builds concepts from the ground up with plenty of practical examples.

What will I learn in the CSM training?

You will learn the Scrum framework end to end: empiricism and the three pillars, the five Scrum values, the Scrum Team accountabilities, all five Scrum events, the three artifacts and their commitments, and how to lead as a servant-leader Scrum Master.

How long is the CSM training?

The CSM programme runs for 16 hours of instructor-led training, delivered as two full days or four half-days depending on the schedule. This exceeds the Scrum Alliance minimum contact-hours requirement for CSM courses.

What materials are provided with the course?

You receive Scrum Alliance aligned CSM courseware and industry-driven case studies that illustrate Scrum Master facilitation, coaching and impediment removal in realistic delivery scenarios, plus guidance on the online exam and credential renewal.
