What is the format of the PgMP exam?

The PgMP exam is closed book with multiple-choice questions, based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and the Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition. It is delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a test centre.

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 170 questions and a four-hour (240-minute) allotted time. Results are reported with domain-level performance feedback rather than a fixed percentage pass mark.

What are the PgMP exam domains and their weights?

Five performance domains: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%).

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PgMP. A panel of programme management practitioners evaluates your documented experience. It is a mandatory step in addition to the written exam, and both must be passed to earn the credential.

What if I do not pass the exam the first time?

PMI allows up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility period from application approval. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our preparation resources and trainer guidance help you build broad mastery across all five domains.

What are the PgMP eligibility requirements?

PMI offers three eligibility sets combining education with project and programme management experience within the past 15 years. An active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three sets, so PMP holders document only their programme experience.

Do I need a PMP before taking PgMP training?

No. PMP is not a mandatory prerequisite for PgMP. However, an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their programme management experience.

Are practice questions and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full-length mock exams mapped to the PgMP Examination Content Outline, plus quizzes, to help you identify weak areas and build readiness for the 170-question exam.

Do I receive a certificate and contact hours?

Yes. On completing the training you receive a course completion certificate and the 24 contact hours of instructor-led learning, which support your preparation for the PgMP application and exam.
