    Exam

    What is the format of the PfMP exam?

    The PfMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PfMP Examination Content Outline and the Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition. Questions are scenario-based and spread across the five performance domains.

    How many questions are on the PfMP exam and how long is it?

    The PfMP exam has 170 questions and a four-hour (240-minute) allotted time. It is delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

    What is the PfMP panel review?

    The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PfMP. A panel of portfolio management practitioners evaluates your documented experience and competency. It is mandatory in addition to the written exam, and both must be passed to earn the credential.

    What is the passing score for the PfMP exam?

    PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. The result is determined through psychometric analysis, with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

    How many attempts do I get and can I retake the exam?

    You are allowed up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility period that begins when your application is approved. Reexamination fees apply to the second and third attempts; confirm the current amounts on the PMI store.

    Course Content

    What topics does the PfMP training cover?

    The training covers the five PfMP performance domains: Strategic Alignment (25%), Governance (20%), Portfolio Performance (25%), Portfolio Risk Management (14%) and Communications Management (16%), plus application, panel-review and exam strategy.

    Which standard and edition is the course aligned to?

    The courseware is aligned to PMI's Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition, and the current PfMP Examination Content Outline. The 4th edition is the reference framework the exam is built on.

    Are practice tests and mock exams included?

    Yes. The programme includes 1000+ practice questions, full-length mock exams, an exam simulator and topic-wise quizzes to help you identify weak areas and build readiness for the 170-question exam.

    What are the eligibility requirements for the PfMP?

    You need a secondary diploma with 84 months of portfolio management experience, or a four-year degree with 48 months, or a GAC-accredited degree with 36 months. All sets require 120 months of business experience within the past 15 years, plus the panel review.

    Will I receive a certificate of completion after the training?

    Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate along with the contact hours earned through the programme, which support your PMI application and future PDU renewal.
