    What is the format of the Yellow Belt exam?

    The IASSC Yellow Belt exam is closed book, with multiple-choice and true or false questions covering all five DMAIC phases. It is taken online with proctoring, or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

    How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

    The exam has 60 questions and an allotted time of two hours. Some forms may include a few additional unscored questions that do not count towards your result.

    What score do I need to pass?

    You need a minimum of 230 points out of 300 to pass. Questions are spread evenly across the Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control phases, so aim for broad understanding of each.

    What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

    You can prepare and retake the exam. Our training includes practice questions and exam-style exercises to help you build readiness and approach the questions with confidence.

    Are there prerequisites to sit the exam?

    No. The Yellow Belt exam has no prerequisites, though completing training and gaining hands-on practice is strongly recommended so you are well prepared.

    What will I learn in the Yellow Belt training?

    You will learn the full DMAIC method at a foundational level: defining problems, measuring performance, analysing variation, improving processes and controlling gains. You also cover core Lean tools such as 5S, value stream mapping, Kanban and Poka-Yoke.

    Do I need prior experience or statistics knowledge?

    No. The Yellow Belt is designed for beginners and introduces statistics only at an awareness level. The training explains each concept clearly with practical, workplace-based examples.

    How long is the training and how is it delivered?

    The programme runs for 16 hours, typically as two full days or four half-days, delivered live online or as corporate training. You learn from accredited, experienced trainers.

    What materials and practice are included?

    You receive structured courseware, DMAIC and Lean exercises, practice questions and quizzes that reinforce each phase and prepare you for the exam format.

    Is the course content up to date with the current body of knowledge?

    Yes. The training is aligned to the current Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Body of Knowledge, covering the five DMAIC phases and the Lean tools expected at foundation level.
