Quality Function Deployment Training in Austria, ExplainedUntitledYour Route to Customer-Driven Design

Quality Function Deployment (QFD) Training in Austria is a practical, one-day skills programme that teaches teams to translate the Voice of the Customer into precise engineering and design characteristics using the House of Quality matrix. Developed in Japan by Yoji Akao, QFD is the structured, customer-driven method engineers use to design quality in from the first concept rather than inspect it in later. The course suits product designers, quality engineers, R&D professionals, product managers and Six Sigma practitioners across Austria's automotive, electronics, machinery and medical-technology sectors, where customer requirements must be turned into reliable specifications. You will build a complete House of Quality, cascade requirements through the four QFD phases, and apply the method within Design for Six Sigma and service design. This is a hands-on skills programme with no exam. You leave with a course completion record and, more importantly, capability you can use the next day. Start your QFD journey with Invensis Learning.

Austrian Market Forces Behind the Demand for QFD Skills

    EV Transition Redesign Pressure

Austria's automotive suppliers are re-engineering products for electrification. QFD gives teams a structured way to translate new customer and regulatory needs into design targets quickly.

    QFD builds customer-driven design skills

    Concentrated R&D, High Stakes

The automotive sector alone drives around 35% of Austria's corporate R&D spend, so getting customer requirements right early is critical, exactly what the House of Quality is built to do.

    QFD builds early requirement-setting skills

    Export Quality Under Scrutiny

With one of the highest export quotas in the Eurozone, Austrian manufacturers must satisfy demanding global customers. QFD keeps every specification traceable to a real requirement.

    QFD builds specification traceability

    Supplier Quality Compliance

Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers must show design-quality traceability for IATF 16949 and APQP. QFD provides the documented link from customer need through to production control.

    QFD builds design-to-production traceability

    Voice-Of-The-Customer Skills Gap

Many engineering teams still design from intuition. QFD closes the communication gap between customer language and engineering specifications with a shared, visible method.

    QFD closes the customer-to-engineering gap

    Cost and Rework Pressure

Margin pressure pushes firms to cut late design changes and warranty costs. QFD front-loads decisions so quality is designed in from the first concept, not fixed later.

Quality Function Deployment is a structured, customer-driven method that translates the Voice of the Customer into specific engineering and design characteristics using the House of Quality matrix. Developed in Japan by Yoji Akao, it helps teams design quality in from the first concept rather than inspect it in later.

The training suits product designers, design and quality engineers, R&D professionals, product managers and Six Sigma practitioners. It is ideal for anyone in Austria's automotive, electronics, machinery or medical-technology sectors who needs to turn customer requirements into reliable design specifications.

Yes. QFD gives you a practical, portable capability that reduces late design changes, shortens time to market and keeps every decision traceable to a customer need. It is widely used across Austrian manufacturing, so the skill applies directly on the job.

No prior experience is required. The course introduces QFD and the House of Quality from first principles. Familiarity with product development or quality management is helpful but not essential.

The programme runs for one day (eight hours), covering QFD foundations, Voice of the Customer capture, full House of Quality construction, interpretation, the four-phase cascade, and QFD in Six Sigma and service design, with hands-on exercises throughout.

    General

What is Quality Function Deployment (QFD)?

Quality Function Deployment is a structured, customer-driven method that translates the Voice of the Customer into specific engineering and design characteristics using the House of Quality matrix. Developed in Japan by Yoji Akao, it helps teams design quality in from the first concept rather than inspect it in later.

Who should attend the QFD training in Austria?

The training suits product designers, design and quality engineers, R&D professionals, product managers and Six Sigma practitioners. It is ideal for anyone in Austria's automotive, electronics, machinery or medical-technology sectors who needs to turn customer requirements into reliable design specifications.

Is QFD training worth it for product and quality professionals?

Yes. QFD gives you a practical, portable capability that reduces late design changes, shortens time to market and keeps every decision traceable to a customer need. It is widely used across Austrian manufacturing, so the skill applies directly on the job.

Do I need prior experience to take this course?

No prior experience is required. The course introduces QFD and the House of Quality from first principles. Familiarity with product development or quality management is helpful but not essential.

How long is the QFD training?

The programme runs for one day (eight hours), covering QFD foundations, Voice of the Customer capture, full House of Quality construction, interpretation, the four-phase cascade, and QFD in Six Sigma and service design, with hands-on exercises throughout.

    Pricing

How much does QFD training in Austria cost?

Pricing depends on the delivery format and group size, so the current fee is available on request. Instructor-led, self-paced and corporate options are offered. Request a quote and a learning advisor will share the details that fit you.

What is included in the QFD course fee?

The fee typically includes instructor-led training, structured courseware, hands-on House of Quality exercises, practical templates and case examples, learner support, and a course completion record. Ask about corporate pricing for team bookings.

Do you offer corporate or group pricing?

Yes. We offer group and corporate rates for teams, with sessions delivered onsite or live virtual and tailored to your products. Contact us for a group quote for your organisation.

Are there any additional costs beyond the training fee?

Because this is a skills course with no exam, there is no separate examination or awarding-body fee. The training fee covers the programme and its learning resources. Any optional add-ons are confirmed before you enrol.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major cards and bank transfer, and instalment options are available on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for the QFD training?

No. This is a hands-on skills programme with no exam. Learning is reinforced through House of Quality construction exercises, case examples and team discussion during the one-day course.

Will I receive anything on completion of the course?

Yes. You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning. More importantly, you leave able to build and interpret a House of Quality for a real product or service straight away.

    How is my learning assessed?

There is no formal assessment. Practical House of Quality exercises and team activities run throughout the day, so you apply each concept as you learn it and confirm your understanding hands-on.

    Is QFD a formal qualification?

QFD is a methodology and a practical workplace skill, not a formal qualification with a governing body. The course builds capability you can use immediately, and the House of Quality is recognised across product development worldwide.

Do the QFD skills expire or need renewal?

No. The skills you gain do not expire and require no renewal. QFD is an established, stable method, so what you learn stays applicable across projects and sectors.

    Course Content

What topics does the QFD training cover?

The course covers QFD foundations, Voice of the Customer capture (affinity diagram, Kano model, importance weighting), full House of Quality construction across all six rooms, interpretation and design hot spots, the four-phase QFD cascade, and QFD in Design for Six Sigma and services.

What will I be able to do after the course?

You will be able to capture and structure customer needs, build a complete House of Quality, set measurable engineering targets, resolve design conflicts with the correlation roof, cascade requirements through the four phases, and apply QFD within Six Sigma projects.

Does the course include hands-on House of Quality practice?

Yes. You build and interpret a House of Quality from a realistic scenario during the training, including VOC structuring, the relationship matrix, the correlation roof and column-importance calculations.

Is the training relevant to services and software, not just manufacturing?

Yes. While QFD began in manufacturing, the course covers applications in services, healthcare, financial services and software, where customer requirements still need translating into delivery or design specifications.

How does QFD relate to Six Sigma?

QFD is a core tool in Design for Six Sigma (the DMADV Measure phase) and is used in the DMAIC Define phase to translate the Voice of the Customer into critical-to-quality requirements. Six Sigma practitioners apply the QFD skills from this course directly.

    Enrollment

How do I enrol in the QFD training?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete your booking, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Talk to a learning advisor if you need help choosing.

    What delivery formats are available?

The course is available as live virtual (online) instructor-led training, in-person classroom training, and corporate onsite delivery, so you can pick the format that fits your schedule and team.

Can the course be delivered online for teams in Austria?

Yes. We deliver online (live virtual) QFD training for teams across Austria, as well as onsite sessions at your location. Contact us to arrange group training for your organisation.

    How soon can I start?

New public sessions run regularly, and corporate sessions are scheduled around your team's availability. See upcoming schedules or speak with an advisor to find the next suitable date.

    Can I reschedule my booking?

Yes. Flexible options let you reschedule to another session where needed. Contact our support team to arrange a change to your booking.
