The Real-World Payoff of Learning to Map Value StreamsSkills You Put to Work Immediately

    For Individuals

    For Individuals

Value Stream Mapping training helps professionals build a practical, immediately usable Lean skill. Over one focused day you learn to map how work really flows, expose waste, and design a leaner future state for your own operations. Whether you work in a plant, a distribution centre, an agri-industry site or a back-office team, the method gives you a shared, visual way to diagnose problems and plan improvement.

If you want a hands-on skill that improves flow, cuts lead time and makes your improvement work more credible, VSM is one of the most versatile tools in Lean. You leave with maps, methods and a plan you can use straight away.

    • See your entire value stream on one page and spot where time, inventory and rework hide
    • Tell value-adding work apart from waste using the eight wastes of Lean
    • Draw current-state and future-state maps with standard VSM symbols the whole team understands
    • Calculate takt time, cycle time and lead time to find the real bottleneck
    • Turn a future-state map into a costed, sequenced improvement and Kaizen plan
    • Lead cross-functional mapping workshops with confidence back at work
    • Add a portable Lean capability that strengthens your operations career
    • Apply the technique in manufacturing, logistics, agribusiness, healthcare or services
    For Organizations

    For Organizations

Value Stream Mapping group training equips teams to see and remove waste across your operations. Delivered for a plant, a PMO, a supply-chain function or a mixed improvement group, it turns abstract Lean ideas into maps your people can act on. Because participants map a real value stream from your own organisation, the learning translates directly into improvement projects.

For organisations under pressure to protect margins and lift productivity, VSM gives senior teams a shared method to prioritise, balance and track improvement. It is a scalable way to build in-house operational-excellence capability across Uruguay and beyond.

    • Builds a common, visual language for improvement across operations, quality and logistics
    • Connects daily work to customer value and exposes waste leaders can act on
    • Cuts lead time, inventory and rework by redesigning how value flows
    • Equips cross-functional teams to run their own VSM workshops in-house
    • Supports Lean, Six Sigma and operational-excellence programmes with a core diagnostic tool
    • Delivered onsite so teams map a real value stream from your own operation
    • Standardises improvement practice across sites and business units
    • Builds lasting internal capability rather than dependence on consultants

What Is Driving Demand for Value Stream Mapping in Uruguay

Margin Pressure from a Strong Peso

The peso's appreciation has raised dollar labour costs and squeezed export margins, pushing manufacturers and agri-exporters to strip waste and delay out of their value streams.

    VSM builds waste-reduction skills

Waste Hidden in Complex Supply Chains

With twelve free trade zones and port-based logistics moving a large share of exports, small flow inefficiencies compound into costly lead time that value stream mapping is built to expose.

    VSM makes end-to-end flow visible

    Scaling Large Industrial Investments

Major projects such as UPM's pulp operations demand disciplined flow, inventory control and coordination across many suppliers, exactly the visibility a value stream map provides.

VSM builds flow and coordination skills

    Shortage of Practical Lean Skills

Uruguay has strong engineering talent but relatively few professionals trained to map and redesign end-to-end flow, making VSM-skilled practitioners valuable to employers.

    VSM-skilled practitioners stand out

    Modernising Food and Agri-Industry Flow

Dairy, meat and food exporters are upgrading production and packaging lines to lift throughput and cut waste, creating demand for people who can map and improve process flow.

    VSM improves production throughput

    Operational Excellence in Services

As shared-services and back-office operations grow in Uruguay's free zones, VSM helps teams cut lead time and rework in administrative processes, not just on the production line.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

Value Stream Mapping training is a practical, one-day Lean course that teaches you to map, analyse and improve the end-to-end flow of materials and information behind a product or service. You learn to build current-state and future-state maps, identify waste, and plan improvements you can apply at work.

Value Stream Mapping training is a practical, one-day Lean course that teaches you to map, analyse and improve the end-to-end flow of materials and information behind a product or service. You learn to build current-state and future-state maps, identify waste, and plan improvements you can apply at work.

Yes. As manufacturers, agri-exporters and free-zone logistics operators face margin and peso pressure, employers value people who can cut waste and improve flow. VSM is a transferable Lean skill that supports roles from improvement analyst to operations and plant manager across Uruguay.

The course suits operations and manufacturing managers, industrial and process engineers, Lean and Six Sigma practitioners, supply-chain and logistics professionals, and anyone responsible for identifying and removing waste in end-to-end process flows.

No. There are no formal prerequisites and the course is open to everyone. Some familiarity with Lean ideas such as waste, flow and pull is helpful, but the training introduces all the relevant concepts in the context of value stream mapping.

Value Stream Mapping is unique in showing the entire flow of materials and information on a single page, from customer to supplier. Where other tools focus on one step, VSM reveals end-to-end waste and bottlenecks, which is why it often starts a Lean improvement programme.

    General

What is Value Stream Mapping training?

Value Stream Mapping training is a practical, one-day Lean course that teaches you to map, analyse and improve the end-to-end flow of materials and information behind a product or service. You learn to build current-state and future-state maps, identify waste, and plan improvements you can apply at work.

Is Value Stream Mapping worth learning in Uruguay?

Yes. As manufacturers, agri-exporters and free-zone logistics operators face margin and peso pressure, employers value people who can cut waste and improve flow. VSM is a transferable Lean skill that supports roles from improvement analyst to operations and plant manager across Uruguay.

Who should attend this Value Stream Mapping course?

The course suits operations and manufacturing managers, industrial and process engineers, Lean and Six Sigma practitioners, supply-chain and logistics professionals, and anyone responsible for identifying and removing waste in end-to-end process flows.

Do I need prior Lean experience to join?

No. There are no formal prerequisites and the course is open to everyone. Some familiarity with Lean ideas such as waste, flow and pull is helpful, but the training introduces all the relevant concepts in the context of value stream mapping.

What makes VSM different from other Lean tools?

Value Stream Mapping is unique in showing the entire flow of materials and information on a single page, from customer to supplier. Where other tools focus on one step, VSM reveals end-to-end waste and bottlenecks, which is why it often starts a Lean improvement programme.

    Pricing

How much does Value Stream Mapping training cost in Uruguay?

Pricing varies by delivery format, group size and schedule, so the fee is available on request. Live virtual, classroom and corporate onsite options are priced differently. Request a quote and a learning advisor will share current pricing for your preferred format.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically includes instructor-led training across all VSM modules, structured courseware, hands-on mapping exercises, practice materials, learner support and a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning. Ask us for the full inclusions for your chosen format.

Do you offer group or corporate pricing?

Yes. We offer corporate and group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for teams, plants and business units. Onsite delivery is available across Uruguay. Contact us for a tailored group quote.

    What payment methods are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and instalment options are available on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

Is there a discount for enrolling a whole team?

Yes. Group enrolments and corporate programmes qualify for volume-based pricing, and onsite delivery can be more cost-effective than sending people individually. Ask about corporate and group pricing for your team.

    Assessment

How is learning assessed on this course?

Learning is reinforced through hands-on mapping exercises and group discussion rather than a formal test. You practise building real current-state and future-state maps during the programme, so you leave able to apply the method, not just describe it.

Do I receive a certificate after the training?

Yes. On completing the programme you receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning that recognises your participation and the practical VSM skills you have built.

Does this course lead to a formal qualification?

No. Value Stream Mapping is a practical skills course, not a certification, and there is no external awarding body for the technique. You gain a course completion certificate and, more importantly, a Lean skill you can use straight away at work.

What will I be able to do after the course?

You will be able to select a product family to map, walk a value stream to gather data, draw current-state and future-state maps with standard symbols, identify waste and bottlenecks, and build an implementation and Kaizen plan to reach the future state.

Can I apply VSM at work straight away?

Yes. The training is designed for immediate application. Once back at work you can facilitate mapping sessions, create current-state and future-state maps for your own operation, and develop improvement roadmaps, with no ongoing renewal required.

    Course Content

What topics does the Value Stream Mapping course cover?

The course covers six areas: an introduction to VSM and Lean foundations, standard VSM symbols and notation, creating the current-state map, analysing it for waste and bottlenecks, designing the future-state map, and implementation planning to sustain improvement.

What is the difference between a current-state and future-state map?

A current-state map shows how your value stream actually operates today, exposing waste, inventory and lead time. A future-state map is the leaner design you build toward, using flow, pull and levelling, with the improvement quantified against the current state.

Are there hands-on exercises in the training?

Yes. You practise throughout the day, creating both a current-state and a future-state map for a realistic operational scenario. The exercises are what turn the concepts into a skill you can use in your own workplace.

What VSM concepts and symbols will I learn?

You learn the standard VSM symbol set, data boxes and the timeline, plus core Lean concepts such as the eight wastes (DOWNTIME), value-added versus non-value-added work, takt time, cycle time, lead time, push versus pull, and the Kaizen burst.

How long is the training and in what format?

The programme runs for one day (about 8 hours), and can also be delivered as two half-days. It is available in live virtual, classroom and corporate onsite formats, so you can choose the option that fits your schedule.

    Enrollment

How do I enrol in Value Stream Mapping training in Uruguay?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete your booking, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Talk to a learning advisor if you would like help choosing a format.

    What delivery formats are available?

We offer live virtual (online) instructor-led training, classroom training, and customised corporate onsite delivery for teams. All formats cover the same six VSM modules with hands-on mapping exercises.

Can the course be delivered onsite for my team?

Yes. Corporate onsite delivery is available across Uruguay, and teams map a real value stream from your own operation during the session. Contact us to arrange a schedule that fits your shifts and site.

Can I reschedule or transfer my booking?

Yes. Flexi options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch on selected plans. Contact our support team to arrange a change to your enrolment.

Refunds and cancellations are handled per our published policy, and selected plans include a money-back option. Reach out to our team for the details that apply to your enrolment.
