The Program Management Professional (PgMP) is PMI's advanced credential for professionals who manage multiple related projects as a coordinated programme to deliver strategic benefits. It suits senior programme managers, PMP holders moving up, PMO heads and transformation leaders with substantial programme experience.

Is a PMP required before the PgMP?

No. A PMP is not a mandatory prerequisite for the PgMP. However, an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their programme management experience.

Is the PgMP recognised internationally?

Yes. As a PMI credential, the PgMP carries global recognition across more than 200 countries and is referenced by senior employers worldwide as a benchmark for programme management. It travels well when you change sector or move abroad from Uruguay.

How long is the PgMP valid and how do I renew it?

The PgMP is valid for three years. To maintain it you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle, with at least eight PDUs in each area, within each three-year continuing certification requirements cycle.

What if I do not pass the PgMP exam the first time?

You have up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility period from application approval, so a first-time miss does not end your journey. Our mock exams, domain practice and post-training support help you close gaps before you re-sit. Reexamination fees apply per PMI.

How long is the PgMP exam and how many questions are there?

The PgMP exam has 170 questions in a four-hour allotted time. It is closed book and uses multiple-choice formats. In addition to the exam, all candidates complete a subject-matter-expert panel review, and both must be passed.

What are the PgMP exam domains and their weights?

Five performance domains: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%). The largest weighting sits on managing the programme through its life cycle.

What standard is the PgMP exam based on?

The exam is based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and aligned to the Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition. Our courseware follows this 4th edition and the current ECO so your preparation matches what PMI tests.

What is the passing score for the PgMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. The result is set through psychometric analysis and reported with domain-level feedback such as Above Target or Target, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.
