Skills You Will Build in This PMI-CP CourseMaster the Four Construction Domains

This PMI-CP training covers the full construction project lifecycle across the four ECO domains, so you can lead delivery from pre-construction to closeout. By the end you can administer contracts, engage stakeholders, control scope and govern projects to PMI standards.

    Construction Contracts Management

Master contract types and delivery methods, tender documentation, contract administration, variations, insurance and claims. This is the PMI-CP exam's largest domain at 50%, reflecting how central contracts are to Uganda's oil, gas and infrastructure projects.

    Stakeholder Engagement

Identify, analyse and engage owners, regulators, communities and financiers across the project lifecycle. Learn owner relationship management, community liaison and regulatory approvals, the 30% domain that keeps complex projects aligned and disputes down.

    Strategy and Scope Management

Define the project execution plan, baseline scope, and run change management alongside schedule, budget, risk and quality. This 15% domain equips you to keep construction projects on time and within budget.

    Project Governance

Establish governance frameworks, reporting, document control, audits and compliance so projects stay accountable. Though 5% of the exam, governance is what donors and public agencies in Uganda increasingly demand.

    Claims, Risk and Change Control

Handle variation orders, delay and disruption claims, dispute resolution and contract risk allocation, the day-to-day realities of managing large, multi-party construction contracts in the region.

    Exam and Application Readiness

Prepare for the 120-question, 230-minute closed-book PMI-CP exam and complete the four mandatory self-paced modules worth 56 PDUs, with guidance on documenting your construction experience for the PMI application.

The PMI-CP is PMI's specialist credential for construction project management. It is designed for construction project managers, site and project engineers, quantity surveyors, PMO staff and PMP holders working in construction. It validates the ability to lead projects across contracts, stakeholders, scope and governance.

The PMI-CP is PMI's specialist credential for construction project management. It is designed for construction project managers, site and project engineers, quantity surveyors, PMO staff and PMP holders working in construction. It validates the ability to lead projects across contracts, stakeholders, scope and governance.

Yes. Uganda is delivering a historic wave of oil, gas, rail, roads and building projects, and employers on EACOP, the standard gauge railway and expressways increasingly seek project leaders who can deliver to international standards. PMI-CP validates that construction-specific capability and supports higher-level, better-paid roles.

No. A PMP is not a prerequisite for PMI-CP. You can apply based on your construction project management experience and education. The two credentials are complementary, with PMP validating broad project management and PMI-CP validating construction-specific expertise.

PMI-CP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle within the three-year cycle, with a minimum of 8 PDUs in each of Ways of Working, Power Skills and Business Acumen.

PMI-CP focuses exclusively on construction project management, unlike broad credentials that cover all industries. Its largest domain is Contracts Management at 50%, reflecting the central role of contracts, claims and disputes in construction, which makes it highly relevant to Uganda's large infrastructure projects.

    Pricing

How much does PMI-CP training cost in Uganda?

PMI-CP training fees vary by format and are available on request, so contact us for a current quote. The PMI exam fee is billed separately by PMI in USD under regional pricing and is not part of the training fee. Talk to a learning advisor to find the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline (ECO). It uses single-answer and multiple-answer questions across four construction project management domains, delivered online proctored or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

How many questions are on the PMI-CP exam and how long is it?

The PMI-CP exam has 120 questions and an allotted time of 230 minutes, which is 3 hours and 50 minutes. Results are reported with domain-level feedback such as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement.

What are the PMI-CP exam domains and their weights?

The exam covers four domains per the PMI-CP ECO: Contracts Management at 50%, Stakeholder Engagement at 30%, Strategy and Scope Management at 15%, and Project Governance at 5%. Contracts management is the heaviest, so plan your study accordingly.

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Your result is reported as pass or fail with domain-level performance feedback, so focus on broad mastery across all four domains.

How many attempts do I get and where can I sit the exam?

You get up to three attempts within a one-year eligibility window from application approval. You can sit the exam through Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre, which is convenient for candidates based in Kampala and across Uganda.

    Course Content

What topics does the PMI-CP training cover?

The training covers the four PMI-CP domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%), plus claims and risk handling, exam strategy and application guidance. It is aligned to the current PMI-CP ECO and the PMBOK Guide.

What are the four mandatory PMI-CP modules?

All candidates must complete four self-paced modules before applying: Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management. Each is a 6 to 10 hour commitment and awards 14 PDUs, for 56 PDUs in total that can count toward renewal.

Do I need construction experience to take this training?

Anyone can enrol in the training. To sit the PMI-CP exam, PMI requires construction project management experience under one of three sets, ranging from 24 to 60 months depending on your education, plus 35 contact hours of project management education and the four modules.

What standard is the courseware aligned to?

The courseware is aligned to the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and the PMBOK Guide. This keeps the content mapped to what PMI actually tests across the four construction domains, so your preparation matches the live exam.

Does this training meet the 35 contact hours requirement?

The instructor-led programme provides 32 contact hours, which is close to but below the 35 contact hours of project management education PMI requires. Check with our team on how supplementary self-study or pre-reading can be credited toward the 35-hour requirement.

    Enrollment

What are the eligibility requirements for the PMI-CP exam?

You must complete all four self-paced modules and meet one of three experience sets: a secondary diploma with 60 months of construction PM experience, a bachelor's degree with 36 months, or a GAC-accredited degree with 24 months. All sets also require 35 contact hours of PM education.

How do I enrol in the PMI-CP course in Uganda?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Talk to a learning advisor if you would like help selecting a batch.

    What training formats are available?

We offer live online instructor-led training, classroom sessions, self-paced e-learning and customised corporate group training. This lets professionals across Uganda choose a format that fits their schedule and project commitments.

What is the refund or cancellation policy?

Refunds and cancellations are handled per our published policy, and selected plans include a money-back guarantee. Reach out to our team for the details that apply to your enrolment before you book.
