Why MS Project Skills Pay off at WorkSkills You Apply from Day One

    For Individuals

    For Individuals

MS Project training helps you turn project plans into schedules you can actually control. You learn to enter tasks, link dependencies, assign resources, set baselines and track progress, so your reporting is accurate and your plans stay realistic under change. Whether you coordinate donor-funded programmes, plan construction and infrastructure works, or manage telecom and IT rollouts, these are the practical software skills that make you dependable on a project team.

The course suits project coordinators and planners building a solid foundation, and experienced managers who want to master resource levelling, cost tracking and multi-project scheduling. You leave able to plan, resource and report on projects using the tool most Ugandan employers already run.

    • Build professional, dependency-linked schedules instead of manual spreadsheets
    • Assign and level resources so no one is over-allocated across your plan
    • Set baselines and track actual progress to spot slippage early
    • Read and control the critical path to protect your project finish date
    • Manage costs and report Earned Value to show project health to sponsors
    • Produce clear Gantt charts, dashboards and status reports for stakeholders
    • Move confidently between Fundamentals and Advanced Microsoft Project features
    • Apply a globally used tool that employers across Uganda expect on project teams
    For Organizations

    For Organizations

Corporate MS Project training equips your project teams and PMO with a shared, practical way to plan and report. Teams learn the same scheduling, resourcing and tracking methods, so plans are consistent and status reporting is comparable across projects. For organisations delivering capital works, technology rollouts or donor programmes, this training closes the gap between a plan on paper and a schedule you can govern.

If your teams struggle with inconsistent plans and unreliable progress reporting, group training creates one scheduling language across the organisation. Delivery leads, coordinators and planners gain a standardised approach to baselines, resource levelling and portfolio-style reporting.

    • Standardise how teams build, baseline and report project schedules
    • Improve resource planning and reduce over-allocation across projects
    • Strengthen progress tracking so delays surface early, not late
    • Enable consistent, comparable status reporting to leadership
    • Build in-house scheduling capability across your PMO and delivery teams
    • Train on your own live project data during corporate sessions
    • Support programme-level visibility with master projects and resource pools
    • Deliver flexible onsite, live virtual or blended training for teams

Where MS Project Skills Take You in UgandaRoles, Demand and Market

Microsoft Project is the scheduling tool of choice for project teams across Uganda, from oil and gas and construction to telecom, banking and development. As Albertine oil works, the EACOP pipeline, AFCON 2027 infrastructure and Kampala urban upgrades expand the project pipeline, employers increasingly want people who can build, baseline and report schedules in the software rather than manage by spreadsheet, which is where hands-on Microsoft Project training makes the difference. Demand spans project coordinators and planners through to project and programme managers, and here is what the Ugandan market is showing right now.

What Is Driving Demand for Project Scheduling Skills in Uganda

    Big Capital Projects, Complex Schedules

Albertine oil works, the EACOP pipeline and AFCON 2027 infrastructure demand dependency-linked schedules, critical path analysis and baselines that spreadsheets simply cannot manage at scale.

MS Project builds scheduling and critical path skills

    Manual Planning Still Common

Many Ugandan teams still plan in spreadsheets, so slippage surfaces late. Microsoft Project skills bring structured tasks, dependencies and progress tracking that catch delays early.

MS Project replaces spreadsheets with real schedules

    Resource Over-Allocation and Delays

Lean project teams juggle people across several jobs at once. Resource assignment and levelling in the software show over-allocation clearly and help balance workloads before deadlines slip.

MS Project builds resource levelling skills

    Donor Reporting and Governance

Externally funded and NGO programmes require disciplined, auditable reporting. Baselines, variance analysis and built-in reports give funders the schedule and cost transparency they expect.

MS Project builds baseline and reporting skills

    Scarce Structured Scheduling Talent

Uganda has plenty of delivery experience but fewer people fluent in professional scheduling tools, so proven Microsoft Project ability is a genuine differentiator on hiring shortlists.

MS Project skills make you stand out

    Programme-Level Coordination

Telecom rollouts and multi-site public works run many linked projects together. Master projects, cross-project links and resource pools coordinate them from a single, governed view.

You build dependency-linked schedules and read the critical path with ease

    Before

Resource clashes only show up when deadlines start to slip

    Now you have

You assign and level resources, so over-allocation is visible and managed

    Before

The Project Scheduling Skills You Will BuildFrom Task Plans to Programme Reporting

This Microsoft Project training builds practical, job-ready capability across both course levels. By the end, you can plan, resource, track and report on projects in the software, from a single Gantt chart through to programme-level scheduling.

    Build the Project Schedule

The skills covered in Microsoft Project start here: create a project file, set the calendar and working time, enter tasks and durations, and build a work breakdown structure with summary tasks, subtasks and milestones.

Link Tasks and Read the Critical Path

Link tasks using Finish-to-Start, Start-to-Start, Finish-to-Finish and Start-to-Finish dependencies with lag and lead time, then display and interpret the critical path to protect your project finish date.

    Assign and Level Resources

Create work, material and cost resources, assign them to tasks with the right units, spot over-allocation, and apply resource levelling so workloads stay within realistic limits across the plan.

    Set Baselines and Track Progress

Set the project baseline, record actual progress with percent complete and actual values, use the Tracking Gantt, and analyse schedule variance so slippage is visible early rather than late.

    Manage Costs and Earned Value

Track budget and actual costs, and calculate Earned Value metrics such as BCWS, BCWP, ACWP, SPI and CPI to report project health and performance clearly to sponsors and funders.

    Build Custom Views and Reports

Create custom fields, tables, filters and views with RAG indicators, and produce Gantt charts, dashboards and built-in visual reports to communicate status without sending raw project files.

    Coordinate Master Projects and Programmes

Insert subprojects into a master project, create cross-project dependencies, use shared resource pools, and report at programme level for multi-project and multi-site delivery.

Plan What-If Scenarios and Close Out

Use multiple baselines and interim plans to model scope, resource and delay scenarios, manage schedule risk, and close projects cleanly with final performance reporting and archiving.

    General

What is Microsoft Project Training and who is it for?

Microsoft Project Training is a practical, hands-on software course that teaches you to plan, schedule, resource and track projects using Microsoft Project. It suits project managers, coordinators, planners and PMO team members in Uganda who want confident, job-ready scheduling skills.

Is Microsoft Project worth learning in Uganda?

Yes. Microsoft Project is the scheduling tool most project teams in oil and gas, construction, telecom, banking and development already use. As Uganda's project pipeline grows, employers increasingly expect delivery staff to plan and report in the software rather than by spreadsheet.

Should I take the Fundamentals or Advanced level?

Take Fundamentals (2 days) if you are new to or occasional with the software and want a solid foundation in scheduling, resources and tracking. Take Advanced (3 days) if you already use it and want resource levelling, Earned Value, custom reports and multi-project management. You can attend either or both.

Do I get a certificate after the training?

Yes. This is a non-certification skills course, so there is no examination. On completing the programme you receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning, and the skills apply immediately to your project work.

What software version does the course use?

The training covers Microsoft Project as used on modern desktop and cloud editions, including Standard, Professional and Project Online for Microsoft 365. The scheduling, resourcing, tracking and reporting skills you learn transfer across these editions.

    Pricing

How much does Microsoft Project Training cost in Uganda?

Fees depend on the level you choose, the delivery format (live virtual, classroom or corporate) and group size. For current pricing on the 2-day Fundamentals or 3-day Advanced programme, request a quote and a learning advisor will share the options that fit you.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically includes instructor-led sessions, structured courseware and reference materials, hands-on exercises using realistic scenarios, learner support and a course completion certificate. Ask about what is included for your chosen level and format.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts?

Do I need a Microsoft Project licence, and is it included?

Microsoft Project is a separate product from Microsoft Corporation, so you should have it installed and accessible for the hands-on exercises. Check with us whether a trial licence is provided for your session or whether you should arrange your own before training.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for this course?

No. There is no examination at either level. Learning is reinforced through live, hands-on Microsoft Project exercises using realistic project scenarios throughout the programme, so you build proficiency by doing.

How are the skills assessed during training?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, you practise each feature as the trainer demonstrates it, working through scheduling, resourcing, tracking and reporting exercises so you can apply the skills confidently at work.

What will I be able to do after the Fundamentals level?

You will be able to create a project file, configure calendars, build a task list with milestones, link dependencies, identify the critical path, assign resources, spot over-allocation, set a baseline, track progress and generate built-in status reports.

What will I be able to do after the Advanced level?

You will be able to apply task types correctly, run resource levelling, track costs and report Earned Value, build custom views, fields and visual reports, manage master projects with cross-project links, and plan what-if scenarios using multiple baselines.

Do I need prior experience to attend?

For Fundamentals, no prior experience is required, though basic familiarity with Windows and Microsoft Office helps. For Advanced, you should have completed Fundamentals or have equivalent hands-on experience using the software.

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the training?

Fundamentals covers project setup, the work breakdown structure, task dependencies, the critical path, resources, baselines, progress tracking and reporting. Advanced covers resource levelling, cost management and Earned Value, custom views and reports, master projects and what-if analysis.

How long is each level of the training?

Fundamentals runs over 2 days (16 hours total) and Advanced over 3 days (24 hours total). Both are available as full-day sessions or extended half-day formats. Ask about current scheduling options for Uganda.

Are the sessions hands-on or theory based?

They are hands-on throughout. You follow along in Microsoft Project while the trainer demonstrates each feature, then practise on realistic project scenarios, so you learn the software by using it rather than just watching.

Does the course relate to project management methods like PMBOK or PRINCE2?

Yes. Microsoft Project is the scheduling tool practitioners use to apply approaches such as the PMI PMBOK Guide, PRINCE2, the Critical Path Method and Earned Value Management. The course teaches the software so you can put those methods into practice.

    Can beginners take this course?

Yes. The Fundamentals level is designed for people new to Microsoft Project, with no formal prerequisites. It starts from creating a project file and builds up step by step, so beginners can follow comfortably.
