Why the PMI-CP Credential Is Worth ItFor Construction Careers in Singapore

    For Individuals

    For Individuals

PMI-CP training helps construction professionals prove specialist delivery capability and prepare for the PMI-CP exam. The programme suits construction project managers, site managers stepping up into project roles, and PMP holders who want a construction-specific credential. Whether you work on HDB building, rail and civil infrastructure, aviation or commercial projects in Singapore, the training builds capability aligned to how the market actually delivers work.

If you want to move from strong site delivery into recognised project leadership, PMI-CP is a clear path forward. You gain contracts, stakeholder and governance depth, application guidance for the four prerequisite modules, and a structured, supported route to a credential employers value across sectors.

    • Validates specialist construction project management skills that Singapore employers seek
    • Positions you for higher-paying roles from project manager to contracts manager
    • Builds command of construction contracts, the credential's largest domain at 50%
    • Strengthens stakeholder engagement across owners, authorities and communities
    • Earns a globally recognised PMI credential that travels across markets
    • Adds 56 PDUs from the four prerequisite modules toward future renewals

Construction Pressures Fuelling Demand for PMI-CP

    Contract and Claims Complexity

Singapore's mega-projects run intricate contracts and delivery methods, where variations, delays and disputes drive cost. PMI-CP's Contracts Management domain, at 50% of the exam, is built to close this gap.

PMI-CP builds contract and claims management skills

    Public-Sector Delivery Pressure

Public projects make up around 55% of demand, from HDB flats to MRT lines, demanding tight governance, reporting and authority engagement that certified construction leaders are trained to deliver.

PMI-CP builds governance and stakeholder skills

    Mega-Project Coordination

Changi Terminal 5 and the Cross Island Line span many packages and stakeholders, needing portfolio-grade interface, scope and stakeholder management across large, concurrent works.

PMI-CP builds interface and coordination skills

    Skilled Talent Shortage

With demand at a decade high, Singapore's construction sector is short of proven project leaders. A specialist PMI credential helps holders stand out to main contractors and consultancies.

    Cost and Productivity Pressure

As the sector manages a construction boom and rising costs, DfMA and tighter scope control are essential. PMI-CP equips leaders to manage change and protect project value.

Eligible for senior roles across HDB, rail, aviation and commercial projects

    Today

Confident on site delivery, but employers want construction-specific PM depth

    Before

Authority based on site experience, not a recognised credential

    Now you have

A globally recognised PMI construction credential that employers trust

    Before

Limited to project-level delivery with no formal PM validation

    Now you have

A clear route into contracts manager and project director roles

    Before

Contract and stakeholder skills picked up ad hoc on the job

    Now you have

Structured mastery of the four PMI-CP ECO domains

    Before

Recognition tied to one employer or one project type

    Now you have

A credential that travels across sectors and international markets

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The PMI Construction Professional (PMI-CP) is PMI's specialist certification for people who deliver construction projects. It validates your ability to apply project management across contracts, stakeholders, scope and governance. It suits construction project managers, site managers moving into project roles, and PMP holders working in construction.

    General

What is the PMI-CP certification and who is it for?

The PMI Construction Professional (PMI-CP) is PMI's specialist certification for people who deliver construction projects. It validates your ability to apply project management across contracts, stakeholders, scope and governance. It suits construction project managers, site managers moving into project roles, and PMP holders working in construction.

Is PMP required before taking PMI-CP?

No. PMP is not a prerequisite for PMI-CP. You can apply based on your construction project management experience and education. The two credentials are complementary, with PMP validating broad project management and PMI-CP validating construction-specific expertise.

Is the PMI-CP recognised in Singapore?

Yes. As a PMI credential, PMI-CP carries global recognition through PMI's network across more than 200 countries. It is valued by main contractors, public agencies and consultancies delivering Singapore projects such as HDB builds, rail lines and Changi Airport Terminal 5.

What are the prerequisites for PMI-CP?

You must complete four mandatory self-paced modules and meet one experience set: 60 months of construction PM experience with a secondary diploma, 36 months with a bachelor's degree, or 24 months with a GAC-accredited degree. All sets also require 35 contact hours of project management education.

How long is the PMI-CP certification valid?

PMI-CP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle within each three-year cycle. The 56 PDUs from the four prerequisite modules can be applied toward renewal.

    Pricing

How much does PMI-CP training cost in Singapore?

PMI-CP training fees in Singapore vary by format, such as live virtual or classroom, and are available on request. The PMI exam fee is billed separately by PMI in USD under regional pricing and is not part of the training fee. Request a quote for current pricing.

What is included in the PMI-CP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, instructor-led sessions, practice questions and mock exams, guidance on the four prerequisite modules and the PMI-CP application, learner support, and a course completion certificate with contact hours.

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the PMI-CP exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing, for reference around USD 520 for members and USD 670 for non-members. Membership can reduce the exam cost. Confirm current fees on the PMI website before applying.

Do you offer corporate or group discounts for PMI-CP training?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for project teams, site offices and leadership groups across Singapore. Contact us for a tailored group quote.

What payment methods and instalment options are available?

    Exam

How many questions are on the PMI-CP exam and how long is it?

The PMI-CP exam has 120 questions and an allotted time of 230 minutes, which is 3 hours 50 minutes. It is closed book, with single-answer and multiple-answer multiple-choice formats.

What are the PMI-CP exam domains and their weights?

The exam covers four domains from the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline: Contracts Management at 50%, Stakeholder Engagement at 30%, Strategy and Scope Management at 15%, and Project Governance at 5%.

What standard is the PMI-CP exam based on?

The exam is based on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline (ECO) and underpinned by the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition, along with construction industry-specific standards and practices. Preparation should focus on applying these in realistic construction scenarios.

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback such as Above Target or Below Target, so aim for broad mastery across all four domains.

How many attempts do I get, and can I retake the exam?

You get up to three attempts within a one-year eligibility window from application approval. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Confirm current amounts on the PMI website before rebooking.

Where can I take the PMI-CP exam in Singapore?

You can take the exam online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctored system from home or office, or at a Pearson VUE test centre in Singapore. You schedule it through Pearson VUE or the PMI portal within your eligibility window.

Are there practice tests, mock exams or assignments included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full-length mock exams aligned to the 120-question, closed-book format, plus topic-wise quizzes to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Does this training meet the 35 contact hour requirement?

Anyone can enrol in the training. To sit the PMI-CP exam, PMI requires you to complete the four prerequisite modules, meet one experience set (60, 36 or 24 months of construction PM experience by education level), and hold 35 contact hours of PM education.
