What is the format of the PgMP exam?

The PgMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and the Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition. It is delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The PgMP exam has 170 questions and an allotted time of 4 hours. Results are reported with domain-level feedback (Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement) rather than a fixed percentage pass mark.

What are the PgMP exam domains and their weights?

The exam covers five performance domains: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%).

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PgMP. A panel of programme management practitioners evaluates your documented programme experience. It is a mandatory step in addition to the written exam, and both must be passed to earn the credential.

What happens if I do not pass the PgMP exam?

PMI permits up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period from application approval. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our prep, mock exams and trainer support are designed to help you pass with confidence.

What are the eligibility requirements for the PgMP?

PMI offers three eligibility sets. With a four-year degree you need 48 months of project management experience (or an active PMP) plus 48 months of programme management experience within the past 15 years. A secondary diploma requires more programme experience. All candidates complete a panel review.
