How long is the PfMP certification valid?

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the PfMP exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing (for reference, around USD 800 for members and USD 1,000 for non-members; verify current fees at pmi.org). PMI membership of around USD 139 per year can lower the exam and renewal costs.

What is the format of the PfMP exam?

The PfMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PfMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition. Questions are scenario-based and span the five portfolio management performance domains.

How many questions are on the PfMP exam and how long is it?

The PfMP exam has 170 questions and an allotted time of four hours (240 minutes). It is delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What is the passing score for the PfMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. The result is determined through psychometric analysis, with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so focus on broad mastery across all five domains.

What is the PfMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to PfMP. A panel of portfolio management practitioners evaluates your documented portfolio experience and competency. It is a mandatory step in addition to the written exam, and both must be passed to earn the credential.

What happens if I do not pass the exam first time?

PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period from application approval. Reexamination fees apply to the second and third attempts; our prep resources and mock exams are designed to help you pass with confidence.

What topics are covered in the PfMP training?

The training covers the five PfMP performance domains: Strategic Alignment (25%), Governance (20%), Portfolio Performance (25%), Portfolio Risk Management (14%) and Communications Management (16%), plus application readiness and exam strategy.

Is the courseware aligned with the latest PfMP standard?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to PMI's Standard for Portfolio Management, 4th Edition, and the current PfMP Examination Content Outline, so your preparation reflects what the exam actually tests.

What learning resources and materials are provided?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, references to the PfMP Examination Content Outline and Handbook, an overview of the Standard for Portfolio Management, templates, flashcards and chapter-wise quizzes.

Are there practice tests, mock exams or assignments included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams, an exam simulator and topic-wise quizzes to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness across the five domains.

Do I need prior experience to benefit from the training?

Anyone can attend the training, and it is built for experienced professionals. To sit the exam, PMI requires substantial business and portfolio management experience, which the programme helps you document for the application and panel review.

What are the eligibility requirements to sit the PfMP exam?

PMI offers three sets. With a secondary diploma: 120 months of business experience plus 84 months of portfolio experience. With a four-year degree: 120 months business plus 48 months portfolio. With a GAC-accredited degree: 120 months business plus 36 months portfolio, all within the past 15 years, confirmed by panel review.

How soon can I start and how do I enrol?
