    Optimise Processes with Designed Experiments

Use simple and multiple regression, full and fractional factorial Design of Experiments, and data transformation in the Improve phase to model relationships and engineer better process settings.

Sustain Gains with Statistical Process Control

Hold improvements in place with the Control phase: build control plans and SPC charts such as I-MR, Xbar-R, P, U and EWMA, and use Lean controls like Kanban and Poka-Yoke.

Lead Lean Improvement and Mentor Teams

Integrate Lean principles, the seven wastes, 5S and Value Stream Mapping within DMAIC, and develop the leadership to run cross-functional projects and coach Green Belts.

The Lean Six Sigma Black Belt is an advanced credential from IASSC that independently validates your knowledge across all five DMAIC phases at an expert level, including advanced statistics, Lean tools and project leadership. It is designed for professionals who lead complex improvement projects.

    General

What is the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification?

The Lean Six Sigma Black Belt is an advanced credential from IASSC that independently validates your knowledge across all five DMAIC phases at an expert level, including advanced statistics, Lean tools and project leadership. It is designed for professionals who lead complex improvement projects.

Who should take Lean Six Sigma Black Belt training in Singapore?

It suits quality engineers, operations and continuous improvement professionals, and Green Belts ready to step up. In Singapore it is especially valued in semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, banking and logistics, where employers need leaders who can cut defects, cycle time and cost.

Is the Black Belt certification worth it for my career?

Yes. In Singapore, operational excellence and Black Belt roles average around S$115,000 to S$116,000 a year, with director-level bands far higher. The credential signals advanced capability, opens senior process roles and travels across industries and borders. Talk to a learning advisor to plan your path.

What professional designation do I earn?

On passing, you earn the IASSC-CBB designation and the right to use the official marks, along with a digital badge and a listing in the certification register. It is a recognised, third-party validation of your Lean Six Sigma expertise.

How long is the Black Belt certification valid?

The certification carries a three-year Current status from the date you certify. To maintain it, you pass the recertification exam before the status elapses, keeping your credential active for another three years.

How much does Black Belt training cost in Singapore?

Training fees vary by format and schedule, so pricing is available on request. The fee covers expert-led sessions, courseware, practice questions and mock exams. The exam voucher is purchased separately. Request a quote for current Singapore pricing.

What is included in the course fee?

    Exam

What is the format of the Black Belt exam?

The exam is closed book with 150 multiple-choice questions, each worth one mark. A reference document with the required formulas and tables is provided. Some forms include up to 15 additional unscored questions that do not affect your result.

How long is the exam and what score do I need to pass?

You have four hours (240 minutes) to complete the exam, with extra time available for non-native speakers or candidates with a disability. The minimum passing score is 580 out of 750 points. The exam is based on the IASSC Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Body of Knowledge.

Are there any prerequisites for the exam?

No. There are no prerequisites for the Black Belt exam, with no mandatory education, work experience or prior certification. Training and real-world project experience are recommended but not required, so you can sit the exam when you feel ready.

What is the exam application process?

The process is straightforward. Because there are no prerequisites, you purchase the exam voucher directly through the official orders portal, choose online proctored delivery or a Pearson VUE test centre, then schedule your four-hour exam. Our team guides you through registration and booking.

How is the exam delivered and can I retake it?

You can sit the exam online with 24/7 web-based proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre, available across Singapore and worldwide. If you do not pass first time, you can prepare further and re-sit; our trainers support your revision so you go back confident.

    Course Content

What topics does the training cover?

The training covers all five DMAIC phases: Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control. You learn process mapping, measurement system analysis, hypothesis testing, regression, Design of Experiments, and Statistical Process Control, plus Lean tools such as 5S, Kanban and Poka-Yoke.

What are the exam weightings across the DMAIC phases?

The exam weights the phases as Define 13.5%, Measure 21.5%, Analyze 26.5%, Improve 16.5% and Control 22.0%. Our training mirrors these weightings so you spend the most preparation time where the exam places the most emphasis.

Do I need a Green Belt before taking the Black Belt?

No. A Green Belt is not required, as the Black Belt exam has no prerequisites. The course builds advanced topics from a solid base, so motivated learners new to the depth of statistics can follow along, while Green Belts find it a natural step up.

What learning resources and practice are included?

You receive Body of Knowledge-aligned courseware, practice questions, full-length mock exams, DMAIC case studies and chapter-wise quizzes. These resources help you find weak areas, build recall and rehearse the exam format before the real thing.

Will I receive a certificate after the training?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate confirming your training hours. This is separate from the professional credential, which you earn by passing the official Black Belt exam.
