The PMP validates managing individual projects. The PgMP validates managing multiple related projects as a programme to deliver strategic benefits that separate projects could not. The PgMP is more senior, with rigorous prerequisites and an additional multi-rater panel review.

How long is the PgMP certification valid?

The PgMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle, with a minimum of 8 PDUs in each area, within every three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle.

What is the format of the PgMP exam?

The PgMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition. It tests five performance domains through scenario-based questions.

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The PgMP exam has 170 questions and a four-hour allotted time. It is delivered online through Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What are the PgMP exam domains and their weights?

Five domains: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%). The programme covers all five in depth.

What are the eligibility requirements for the PgMP?

PMI offers three sets. With a secondary diploma you need 48 months of project management experience or an active PMP, plus 84 months of programme management experience. With a four-year degree you need 48 months of each, all within the past 15 years.

What if I do not pass the PgMP exam the first time?

PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period, and re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our mock exams, simulator and trainer support are built to help you prepare for a strong first attempt.

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PgMP. A panel of programme management practitioners evaluates your documented experience. Both the panel review and the written exam must be passed to earn the credential, and we support you through both.
