What Is Value Stream Mapping and Why It MattersUntitledA Core Lean Skill for Serbian Operations

Value Stream Mapping (VSM) is a Lean management technique for drawing the end-to-end flow of materials and information needed to take a product or service from concept to customer, so teams can see waste clearly and improve it. The Value Stream Mapping training in Serbia from Invensis Learning is a practical, one-day programme that teaches you to build current-state and future-state maps, spot the eight wastes, and turn them into a costed improvement plan. This instructor-led course suits operations and manufacturing managers, industrial and process engineers, Lean practitioners and supply chain professionals working across Serbia's automotive, electronics, food and pharmaceutical plants. Rooted in the Toyota Production System and the mapping method popularised by Mike Rother and John Shook in Learning to See (1998), it introduces every Lean concept you need in the context of the map itself. There is no exam and no formal credential to chase. You practise on realistic scenarios, leave with a repeatable method and a certificate of completion from Invensis Learning, and start applying the technique the next working day.

The Real Payoff of Learning to Map Value StreamsSkills You Apply from Day One

    For Individuals

    For Individuals

The Value Stream Mapping course gives you a hands-on skill you can use immediately. Over one focused day you learn to walk a process, capture real data and draw an honest current-state map, then read it to find where time, effort and value are lost. Whether you work on an automotive line in Novi Sad, a food or pharmaceutical plant, or a service and logistics operation, the method is the same and the payoff is practical: shorter lead times, less waste and clearer priorities.

If you want to move from spotting local problems to leading end-to-end flow improvement, mapping is the skill that gets you there. You leave with a proven approach, worked examples and the confidence to facilitate a mapping session for your own team.

    • Read any operation at a glance by mapping its full value stream on a single page
    • Expose the eight wastes and pinpoint the true bottleneck that limits your flow
    • Design a future-state map that cuts lead time, inventory and rework
    • Turn maps into a costed, sequenced improvement and Kaizen plan
    • Speak a shared Lean language with operations, quality and engineering teams
    • Apply a repeatable method the next working day, with no exam to sit
    • Strengthen your profile for Lean, operations and continuous improvement roles in Serbia
    For Organizations

    For Organizations

Group training equips your teams with a shared, structured way to see and improve flow. Sending a cross-functional group means operations, quality, engineering and logistics build the map together and reach a common diagnosis of where waste sits. For Serbian manufacturers and service operations under pressure to protect margins, this builds a scalable, practical improvement capability inside the business.

When teams map a real value stream from your own site during the session, they leave with both the method and a concrete future-state plan for one of your processes. That turns a day of training into a head start on measurable improvement.

    • Give cross-functional teams one shared view of how work really flows
    • Target improvement effort at the real bottleneck, not the loudest problem
    • Cut lead time, inventory and rework across production and service lines
    • Build in-house mapping capability instead of relying on outside consultants
    • Standardise a common Lean method across plants and business units
    • Map your own live value stream during on-site group sessions
    • Deliver flexibly for teams across Belgrade, Novi Sad, Nis and Kragujevac

Career Demand for Lean Specialists in SerbiaWhere Mapping Takes You

Value stream mapping skills are in demand across Serbia's fast-growing manufacturing base, from automotive and tyre plants to electronics, food and pharmaceutical producers. As foreign investors expand and EU customers nearshore work to the Western Balkans, employers increasingly want people who can see and improve flow, not just deliver tasks, which is exactly what Value Stream Mapping training develops. The skill maps onto roles from process improvement specialist and industrial engineer through to quality, supply chain and operations manager, and here is what the Serbian market is telling us right now.

Serbian Industry Pressures That Make Flow Mapping Essential

    Weak European Demand Squeezing Margins

Softer EU car demand cost Serbian manufacturing roughly 16,000 jobs over the past year, pushing plants to remove waste and protect margins through leaner, mapped flow.

VSM helps strip waste and protect margins

    EV Shift Reshaping Production Lines

The move to electric vehicles is retooling Serbian auto-component lines for power electronics and cable systems, and every new flow needs mapping before it can run lean.

VSM helps design flow for new lines

    Nearshoring Raising the Delivery Bar

EU manufacturers nearshoring to Serbia expect short, reliable lead times, so mapped, waste-free value streams have become a condition of winning and keeping the work.

VSM helps shorten and stabilise lead times

    Rising Energy Costs Punishing Waste

With competitiveness increasingly priced in electricity, every wasted movement, wait and unit of overproduction now carries a real energy cost that mapping helps remove.

    VSM helps remove non-value-adding activity

Deep Engineering Pool, Thin Lean Capability

Serbia has strong engineering talent but far fewer people who can actually facilitate a value stream map, making the skill a genuine differentiator for professionals.

VSM makes flow-improvement talent stand out

    Scaling Consistency Across New Plants

As multinationals add sites in Novi Sad, Kragujevac and Nis, standardising flow and quality across plants demands a shared mapping method every team can use.

VSM gives every team a common method

Our Teams Finally Agreed on Priorities

"We ran this on-site for our operations and quality teams and mapped one of our own lines during the day. Everyone left with the same view of where waste sat, which made prioritising our improvement projects far easier."

    Built Capability Inside Our Team

"The trainer tailored the examples to our sector and the group mapping session gave us a future-state plan we could act on. It was a practical, well-run day that built real capability inside our team rather than dependence on consultants."

Value Stream Mapping is a Lean technique for drawing the full flow of materials and information needed to deliver a product or service, so teams can see waste and design a leaner process. This one-day training teaches you to build and act on those maps.

It suits operations and manufacturing managers, industrial and process engineers, Lean practitioners and supply chain professionals across Serbia's automotive, electronics, food and pharmaceutical sectors. Anyone responsible for improving process flow will benefit.

No. There are no prerequisites. Some familiarity with Lean ideas such as waste and flow helps, but the course introduces every concept you need in the context of the map itself.

Yes. Mapping is one of the most practical Lean skills, and Serbian employers running large export plants value people who can facilitate it. You gain a repeatable method you apply immediately, not just theory.

The technique is rooted in the Toyota Production System and the mapping approach popularised by Mike Rother and John Shook in Learning to See (1998). The course uses the standard VSM symbol set recognised across Lean practice.

    General

    What is Value Stream Mapping?

Value Stream Mapping is a Lean technique for drawing the full flow of materials and information needed to deliver a product or service, so teams can see waste and design a leaner process. This one-day training teaches you to build and act on those maps.

Who should attend this training in Serbia?

It suits operations and manufacturing managers, industrial and process engineers, Lean practitioners and supply chain professionals across Serbia's automotive, electronics, food and pharmaceutical sectors. Anyone responsible for improving process flow will benefit.

Do I need prior Lean experience?

No. There are no prerequisites. Some familiarity with Lean ideas such as waste and flow helps, but the course introduces every concept you need in the context of the map itself.

Is this course worth it for my career?

Yes. Mapping is one of the most practical Lean skills, and Serbian employers running large export plants value people who can facilitate it. You gain a repeatable method you apply immediately, not just theory.

What method is the training based on?

The technique is rooted in the Toyota Production System and the mapping approach popularised by Mike Rother and John Shook in Learning to See (1998). The course uses the standard VSM symbol set recognised across Lean practice.

    Pricing

How much does the training cost in Serbia?

Fees vary by delivery mode, group size and schedule, so pricing is available on request. Ask a learning advisor for a current quote for live online, classroom or on-site delivery in Serbia.

What is included in the fee?

The fee covers instructor-led delivery of all six modules, hands-on current-state and future-state mapping exercises, course materials, and a certificate of completion from Invensis Learning. Request a quote for full details.

Do you offer group or corporate pricing?

Yes. We offer volume-based corporate pricing when you train a team together, which is often the best value because your group can map a real value stream from your own operation. Ask about group pricing.

Are there discounts for teams in Serbia?

Corporate and group rates are available for Serbian organisations training several people. Contact us with your team size and preferred format for a tailored quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major cards and bank transfer, and can arrange invoicing for corporate bookings. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for this course?

No. This is a non-certification skills course with no exam. Learning is reinforced through hands-on mapping exercises and group discussion across the one-day programme.

    Will I receive a certificate?

You receive a certificate of completion from Invensis Learning after finishing the one-day programme. It records your attendance and the practical VSM skills you built; it is not a formal external credential.

    How is my learning assessed?

There is no formal assessment. Instead you practise building current-state and future-state maps for realistic scenarios, so you leave able to apply the method rather than pass a test.

    How long is the training?

The programme runs for one day of eight hours, covering Lean foundations, VSM symbols, current-state mapping, analysis, future-state design and implementation planning, with mapping exercises throughout.

What will I be able to do afterwards?

You will be able to select a product family, walk the value stream, draw a current-state map, find waste and the bottleneck, design a future-state map, and build an implementation and Kaizen plan.

    Course Content

What topics does the training cover?

The course covers six areas: Lean foundations and VSM, standard VSM symbols, creating the current-state map, analysing it, designing the future-state map, and implementation planning to sustain the gains.

What are the eight wastes I will learn to spot?

You learn to identify the eight Lean wastes, known as DOWNTIME: defects, overproduction, waiting, non-utilised talent, transportation, inventory, motion and extra processing, and to locate them on your map.

Do we practise real mapping in the class?

Yes. You build both a current-state and a future-state map for a realistic scenario during the day, and corporate groups can map a live value stream from their own site.

What is the difference between current-state and future-state maps?

A current-state map shows how the value stream really works today. A future-state map is the leaner design you build toward, with continuous flow, pull systems and levelled scheduling.

Is the course relevant outside manufacturing?

Yes. Value stream mapping applies to healthcare, logistics, financial services and IT as well as manufacturing. The course shows how to map flow in any end-to-end process.

    Enrollment

How do I enrol in the training?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website or by speaking with a learning advisor. Choose your format and schedule, whether you take the Value Stream Mapping course online or attend in person, and you will receive joining details and course materials.

    What delivery formats are available?

The training is available as live online (virtual instructor-led), classroom, and on-site corporate delivery, so you can pick the format that fits your team and schedule in Serbia.

When are the next sessions in Serbia?

Public sessions run through the year, and on-site dates are arranged to fit your team. Contact us to see upcoming batches and timings for Serbia.

Can you deliver training at our site?

Yes. We deliver on-site sessions at your premises anywhere in Serbia, which lets your team map one of your own value streams during the workshop. Ask about on-site delivery.

    Can I reschedule my booking?

Yes. Flexible rescheduling is available on most bookings. Contact our support team to move to another session if your plans change.
