Why Serbian Factories Are Investing in Lean Skills

    Export Demand Under Pressure

Serbian manufacturing shed around 16,000 jobs last year as key export markets softened. Plants that eliminate waste and lower unit cost protect margins, making Lean practitioners valuable.

Lean cuts cost to protect margins and jobs

    Shift to Advanced Manufacturing

Serbia's factories are moving from low-complexity assembly to advanced, technology-led production. This transition demands the continuous flow, standard work and disciplined problem solving that Lean provides.

Lean builds flow and problem-solving discipline

    Automotive Quality Expectations

Tier 1, 2 and 3 suppliers to Stellantis, Bosch, ZF and other OEMs must meet IATF 16949 expectations, where Lean production, 5S and pull systems are core requirements, not optional extras.

    Lean underpins IATF 16949 production

    Thin Continuous-Improvement Talent

Serbia has a deep pool of skilled operators but far fewer people trained in value stream mapping, TPM and Kaizen. Employers compete for professionals who can lead improvement on the shop floor.

Lean makes improvement leaders stand out

    Rising Energy and Input Costs

With input and energy costs climbing, plants cannot absorb waste. OEE improvement, quick changeover and inventory reduction turn Lean skills into a direct route to cost control.

Lean turns waste reduction into cost control

    Ramping up New Investments

New plants from ZF in Pancevo to PWO in Cacak must reach stable, high-quality output fast. Standard work and Heijunka help new lines ramp up without waste or constant firefighting.

The Lean Tools You Will Put to WorkSkills You Can Apply on Monday

Lean Manufacturing training gives you a complete, practical toolkit for waste elimination and flow. By the end of the one-day programme you can run a waste walk, map a value stream, launch 5S, design a kanban pull system and calculate OEE on your own lines.

    Eliminate the Eight Wastes (DOWNTIME)

Learn what you will gain from Lean training: the ability to spot and remove defects, overproduction, waiting, non-utilised talent, transport, inventory, motion and extra processing across any production area, plus recognise Mura and Muri.

    Map the Value Stream

Draw current and future-state value stream maps, calculate takt time, find the bottleneck and target the waste between steps, so materials and information flow through the plant without interruption.

    Organise the Workplace with 5S

Apply Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardise and Sustain, plus visual management such as Andon and production boards, to build a safe, orderly workplace where problems become immediately visible.

Design Pull Systems with Kanban and JIT

Move from push to pull, size kanban loops and supermarkets, and apply Just-in-Time principles so each step produces only what the next one needs, cutting inventory and overproduction.

Lift Reliability with TPM and OEE

Use Total Productive Maintenance and calculate Overall Equipment Effectiveness (Availability x Performance x Quality) to attack the six big losses and improve equipment uptime.

    Cut Changeover with SMED

Separate internal from external setup and streamline changeovers, so smaller batches become viable, mix flexibility rises, and lead time and inventory fall.

    Level Production and Mistake-Proof

Smooth volume and mix with Heijunka and build quality in at source with Poka Yoke, so uneven schedules and avoidable defects stop disrupting production flow.

    Lead Kaizen Continuous Improvement

Lean Manufacturing training is a practical, one-day course that teaches you to eliminate waste and improve flow using the Toyota Production System and the five Lean principles. It suits production managers, engineers, supervisors, quality and maintenance professionals across Serbian industry.

Yes. Serbia's export-driven factories reward people who can cut cost, raise quality and keep production flowing. Lean skills apply from the shop floor to the plant office and open roles from supervisor to plant operations manager.

No. The course introduces Lean from first principles, so no prior Lean knowledge is required. Some manufacturing or production experience is helpful but not essential, and the tools apply across automotive, food, electronics and other sectors.

The programme runs for one day (eight hours) and covers the full Lean toolkit, from the Toyota Production System and the eight wastes through value stream mapping, 5S, kanban, JIT, TPM, OEE, standard work, SMED, Heijunka, Poka Yoke and Kaizen, with hands-on exercises throughout.

You will be able to run a waste walk, read and build a value stream map, launch a 5S programme, design a kanban pull system, calculate OEE, write standard work and lead Kaizen improvements on the shop floor.

How long is the Lean Manufacturing course?

The programme runs for one day (eight hours) and covers the full Lean toolkit, from the Toyota Production System and the eight wastes through value stream mapping, 5S, kanban, JIT, TPM, OEE, standard work, SMED, Heijunka, Poka Yoke and Kaizen, with hands-on exercises throughout.

    Pricing

How much does Lean Manufacturing training cost in Serbia?

Fees vary by delivery mode, group size and schedule, so pricing is available on request. Public live-virtual and classroom seats are priced per learner, while onsite corporate delivery is quoted per group. Request a quote for current Serbia pricing.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically includes expert-led training across all six Lean modules, hands-on exercises, course materials and templates, learner support, and a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning. Ask a learning advisor what your chosen format includes.

Are there discounts for group or corporate training?

Yes. We offer volume-based pricing for corporate and group bookings, which is often the most cost-effective option when training a whole production or improvement team. Contact us for a tailored group quote.

Which currency is the training quoted in?

Local Serbian training is quoted for the Serbian market, and your advisor will confirm the amount and accepted payment methods when you enquire. Corporate quotes are prepared per group and scope.

How do I pay and are instalments available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and instalment options are available on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for the Lean Manufacturing course?

No. This is a non-certification course with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on Lean tool exercises, waste-identification activities and manufacturing case studies during the day, rather than a formal test.

Do I receive a certificate after the training?

You receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning once you complete the one-day programme. There is no external credential or awarding body, as Lean Manufacturing is a skills-based methodology rather than a certification scheme.

How am I assessed during the course?

There is no formal assessment. You apply the tools through practical exercises such as a waste walk, VSM data collection, a 5S assessment, an OEE calculation and a kanban sizing activity, so you leave able to use them at work.

Do the skills expire or need renewal?

No. The Lean skills you gain do not expire and need no renewal. Because there is no certification to maintain, you simply keep applying and deepening the methods on the job.

Will this prepare me for further Lean study?

Yes. The course is a strong foundation for Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, Poka Yoke and Lean Six Sigma training. Many learners use it as their first step before deeper, tool-specific programmes.

    Course Content

What topics does the Lean Manufacturing course cover?

The course covers the Toyota Production System and five Lean principles, the eight wastes (DOWNTIME), value stream mapping, 5S and visual management, pull systems, kanban and JIT, TPM and OEE, standard work, SMED, Heijunka, Poka Yoke and building a Lean culture.

Are there hands-on exercises or is it theory only?

The programme is highly practical. You take part in a waste walk, value stream mapping, a 5S workplace assessment, an OEE calculation and kanban sizing, applying each tool to realistic production scenarios rather than only hearing about it.

Can beginners and experienced staff learn together?

Yes. The course introduces every tool from first principles, so beginners keep up while experienced staff deepen their practice. Training a cross-functional team together builds a shared Lean vocabulary across operators, supervisors and engineers.

What materials and resources are provided?

You receive structured courseware, exercise worksheets and downloadable Lean templates covering VSM, 5S audits, OEE and standard work, plus manufacturing case examples you can refer back to when applying the tools on site.

Which industries does the content apply to?

While the focus is manufacturing, the principles and tools apply to automotive, food and beverage, electronics, pharmaceuticals, metals and other production and operations settings common across Serbia.
