What Value Stream Mapping Delivers on the Shop FloorUntitledA Practical Lean Skill for Polish Industry

Value Stream Mapping (VSM) training in Poland teaches you to create a single visual map of every step, material and information flow needed to take a product or service from concept to customer, so waste and bottlenecks become impossible to ignore. VSM is a core Lean technique rooted in the Toyota Production System and popularised for practitioners by Mike Rother and John Shook in their 1998 classic Learning to See. Over one intensive day (8 hours), you learn to build current-state and future-state maps, calculate takt time, expose the eight wastes of Lean (DOWNTIME) and turn your findings into a costed implementation plan. It suits operations managers, manufacturing and process engineers, Lean and Six Sigma practitioners, supply chain leads and business services teams. This is a practical, skills-first programme built around hands-on mapping exercises rather than formal assessment. You finish with a course completion record from Invensis Learning and the confidence to facilitate your own mapping workshops. Start seeing your value streams clearly and improving them straight away.

    For Individuals

    For Individuals

Value Stream Mapping training helps you see the whole flow of work, not just isolated steps, so you can pinpoint where time, inventory and effort are lost. It is built for operations managers, engineers, Lean practitioners and process improvement professionals who want a practical, immediately usable skill. Whether you work in automotive, manufacturing, logistics, business services or healthcare, mapping gives you a structured way to diagnose problems and design a leaner future state your team can rally behind.

The Pressures Making Flow Mapping Essential in Poland

    Automotive Flow Complexity

Poland is one of Europe's largest vehicle and parts producers, and tiered supply chains demand mapped, waste-free flow to hold cost, quality and delivery under constant OEM pressure.

VSM builds end-to-end flow and waste-elimination skills

    Rising Manufacturing Cost Pressure

Energy, wage and material costs are squeezing Polish factories. Mapping current-state flow exposes the delays, inventory and overproduction that quietly erode margin.

VSM exposes hidden delay and inventory waste

    Nearshoring Capacity Strain

As production shifts to Poland from higher-cost markets, plants must scale output fast. VSM reveals bottlenecks and rebalances process steps to takt time before they choke throughput.

VSM builds bottleneck and takt-time skills

Back-Office Waste in SSC and GBS

Krakow, Wroclaw and Katowice host hundreds of shared services centres where invisible process waste builds up. Value stream mapping brings the same discipline to administrative flows.

VSM extends waste elimination to admin flows

    Lean Talent Shortage

Employers report a shortage of practitioners who can actually facilitate improvement, not just describe it. Mapping skills make you the person who turns problems into a clear future-state plan.

VSM makes practical improvers stand out

    Industry 4.0 Without Direction

Digital and automation investment fails when it accelerates a wasteful process. Mapping first ensures Poland's factories automate the right flow, not the waste around it.

VSM points automation at the right flow

The Mapping Skills You Will BuildFrom Current State to Future State

This one-day Value Stream Mapping programme takes you through the full VSM cycle, from Lean foundations and standard symbols to current-state mapping, analysis, future-state design and implementation planning. Hands-on exercises mean you leave able to map, analyse and improve a real value stream.

Lean Foundations and the Eight Wastes

You will learn what a value stream really is and how the five Lean principles and the eight wastes of Lean (DOWNTIME) frame every improvement, so you can tell value-adding work from waste with confidence.

Reading and Using Standard VSM Symbols

Apply the standard Value Stream Mapping symbol set for process boxes, material and information flow, inventory, kanban and data boxes, giving your team one consistent visual language.

    Building the Current-State Map

Walk a real process, gather cycle time, changeover, uptime and inventory data by direct observation, and draw an honest current-state map that shows how work actually flows today.

Analysing Flow and Finding the Constraint

Calculate takt time, locate the bottleneck, tell push from pull and read the timeline to expose where lead time and inventory pile up across the value stream.

    Designing the Future-State Map

Use the eight future-state design questions to create continuous flow, pull systems and a single scheduling point, then quantify the improvement against your current state.

    Implementation and Sustaining Improvement

Turn the future-state map into a sequenced roadmap of Kaizen events, set the metrics that track progress, and standardise new ways of working so gains stick.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

Value Stream Mapping (VSM) is a Lean technique for drawing the end-to-end flow of materials and information needed to deliver a product or service, so waste and bottlenecks become visible. This one-day training suits operations managers, engineers, Lean and Six Sigma practitioners, supply chain leads and process improvement teams across Poland.

Yes. With Poland a leading European manufacturing and business services hub, employers actively seek people who can map flow and cut waste. VSM is one of the most portable Lean skills and applies to automotive, industry, logistics, services and back-office processes alike.

VSM is rooted in the Toyota Production System and was popularised for practitioners by Mike Rother and John Shook in their 1998 book Learning to See. It has since become a core diagnostic tool across Lean, Six Sigma and operational excellence programmes worldwide.

No. There are no formal prerequisites. Some familiarity with Lean ideas such as waste and flow is helpful, but the programme introduces every concept you need, so newcomers and experienced practitioners both benefit.

You will be able to select a product family, walk the process, capture data, draw current-state and future-state maps using standard symbols, identify waste, and build an implementation plan. In short, you can facilitate your own mapping workshops straight away.

    General

What is Value Stream Mapping and who is this training for?

Value Stream Mapping (VSM) is a Lean technique for drawing the end-to-end flow of materials and information needed to deliver a product or service, so waste and bottlenecks become visible. This one-day training suits operations managers, engineers, Lean and Six Sigma practitioners, supply chain leads and process improvement teams across Poland.

Is Value Stream Mapping worth learning in 2026?

Yes. With Poland a leading European manufacturing and business services hub, employers actively seek people who can map flow and cut waste. VSM is one of the most portable Lean skills and applies to automotive, industry, logistics, services and back-office processes alike.

Where does Value Stream Mapping come from?

VSM is rooted in the Toyota Production System and was popularised for practitioners by Mike Rother and John Shook in their 1998 book Learning to See. It has since become a core diagnostic tool across Lean, Six Sigma and operational excellence programmes worldwide.

Do I need prior Lean experience to attend?

No. There are no formal prerequisites. Some familiarity with Lean ideas such as waste and flow is helpful, but the programme introduces every concept you need, so newcomers and experienced practitioners both benefit.

What will I be able to do after the training?

You will be able to select a product family, walk the process, capture data, draw current-state and future-state maps using standard symbols, identify waste, and build an implementation plan. In short, you can facilitate your own mapping workshops straight away.

    Pricing

How much does Value Stream Mapping training cost in Poland?

Pricing depends on the delivery format (live virtual, classroom or corporate onsite) and group size. For individual and group rates in Poland, request a quote and a learning advisor will share current options.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee covers instructor-led training across all six VSM modules, structured courseware, hands-on current-state and future-state mapping exercises, learner support and a course completion record from Invensis Learning.

Do you offer discounts for teams or groups?

Yes. Corporate and group training is available with pricing tailored to team size and delivery format, and onsite sessions can map a real value stream from your own organisation. Ask about group pricing for your team.

    Are there payment options available?

We accept major cards and bank transfers, and can discuss instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to find the option that suits you.

Is corporate onsite delivery priced differently?

Yes. Corporate onsite and live virtual team delivery are quoted separately from public sessions, based on team size, location and any customisation. Contact us for a group quote.

    Assessment

How is my learning assessed during the course?

Learning is reinforced through hands-on mapping exercises and group discussion rather than formal testing. You build current-state and future-state maps as you go, so every concept is applied the moment you learn it.

What do I receive when I finish the training?

You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning confirming you have completed the full Value Stream Mapping curriculum. The real takeaway is the practical skill to map and improve flow in your own workplace.

Does this course award a formal qualification?

No. This is a practical, skills-first programme with no governing body behind the technique. It focuses on building usable VSM capability rather than preparing you for any test.

How is this different from a Lean Six Sigma belt programme?

Belt programmes are broad and cover many Lean and statistical tools. This course goes deep on one high-impact technique, value stream mapping, and complements Yellow Belt, Green Belt and Kaizen training rather than replacing them.

Will the training help with real workplace projects?

Yes. VSM is immediately applicable. You leave able to facilitate mapping workshops, produce current-state and future-state maps for your operations, and build an implementation roadmap for improvement.

    Course Content

What topics does the Value Stream Mapping training cover?

The programme spans six modules: Lean foundations and the eight wastes, standard VSM symbols, building the current-state map, analysing flow and finding the constraint, designing the future-state map, and implementation planning to sustain improvement.

How long is the training and what is the format?

It is a one-day, eight-hour programme delivered live virtual, in a classroom or onsite for corporate teams. The day mixes concept explanation, symbol training, worked examples and hands-on mapping exercises.

    Are there hands-on exercises?

Yes. You create both a current-state and a future-state map for a realistic operational scenario during the day, so you practise the full mapping cycle rather than only hearing about it.

What is takt time and will I learn to calculate it?

Takt time is the pace of production needed to meet customer demand, calculated as available working time divided by demand. The course teaches you to work it out and use it to find bottlenecks and balance process steps.

Is the course suitable for service and back-office teams?

Absolutely. While VSM began on the factory floor, it applies equally to logistics, healthcare, IT and shared services flows. Poland's many SSC and GBS centres use it to map and streamline administrative processes.

    Enrollment

How do I enrol in the Value Stream Mapping training?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive schedule details, courseware and joining instructions. See upcoming batches to get started.

What delivery formats are available in Poland?

The training is offered as online (live virtual) instructor-led sessions, classroom training and corporate onsite delivery, so you can pick what fits your schedule and team.

    When are the next sessions?

New public sessions run regularly, and corporate groups can book dates that suit their operations. View upcoming schedules or talk to a learning advisor to find the next available batch.

Can I train my whole team together?

Yes. Onsite and live virtual group training lets your team map a real value stream from your own organisation together, which is the fastest way to build a shared improvement method. Ask about corporate training.

What is your reschedule or refund policy?

Rescheduling and refunds are handled under our published policy, and selected plans include flexible options. Reach out to our team for the details that apply to your enrolment.
