    Assessment

    Is there an exam for the Lean Manufacturing training?

    No. This is a non-certification course with no exam. Learning is reinforced through hands-on Lean tool exercises, waste identification activities and case discussions during the one-day programme.

    Do I receive anything on completion?

    Yes. On completing the training you receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning. It confirms your participation; it is not a formal credential, as the course does not award one.

    How is learning assessed during the course?

    There is no formal assessment. Instead, you practise through waste walks, VSM data collection, 5S assessment, OEE calculation and kanban sizing exercises, applying each tool to realistic manufacturing scenarios as you go.

    What will I be able to do afterwards?

    You will be able to identify and classify the eight wastes, read and build a value stream map, run a 5S programme, design a kanban pull system, calculate OEE and lead Kaizen improvements on the shop floor.

    Can I take this before more advanced Lean courses?

    Yes. It is a strong foundation for further study such as Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, Poka Yoke and Lean Six Sigma programmes, all available through Invensis Learning.

    Course Content

    What topics does the Lean Manufacturing syllabus cover?

    Six modules: TPS and the five Lean principles; the eight wastes (DOWNTIME); Value Stream Mapping; 5S and visual management; pull systems, kanban, JIT and TPM; and standard work, SMED, Heijunka, poka yoke and Lean culture.

    What will I learn about waste and OEE?

    You learn to spot the eight wastes plus Mura and Muri, and to calculate OEE as Availability times Performance times Quality. You also learn to target the six big losses that limit equipment effectiveness.

    Are there hands-on exercises?

    Yes. The day includes practical exercises: Gemba-based waste identification, VSM timeline work, a 5S workplace assessment, an OEE calculation and kanban quantity sizing, so you apply each tool as you learn it.

    What materials are provided?

    You receive structured courseware, reference guides and templates, exercise worksheets and real manufacturing case examples that support learning during and after the session.

    Does the content apply outside manufacturing?

    Yes. While the focus is manufacturing, tools such as 5S, Kaizen, value stream mapping and waste elimination transfer to logistics, healthcare operations and service delivery too.
