The Risk Skills You Will BuildTools, Techniques and Frameworks

This PMI-RMP programme helps you build end-to-end project risk capability across the five domains of the January 2022 Examination Content Outline. By the end, you can plan, identify, analyse, respond to and monitor risk on real projects and prepare fully for the exam.

    Build a Risk Management Strategy

Skills covered in the PMI-RMP training start with shaping risk strategy: perform document analysis, confirm risk thresholds and appetite, and tailor the risk management plan and governance to predictive, agile or hybrid delivery, aligned to the January 2022 ECO.

    Identify Threats and Opportunities

Facilitate structured risk identification using brainstorming, the Delphi technique, SWOT, assumption and constraint analysis, and a risk breakdown structure. Document risks clearly in the register and validate coverage with stakeholders and the team.

    Analyse and Prioritise Risk

Apply qualitative and quantitative analysis: probability and impact matrices, risk scoring, Monte Carlo simulation, decision-tree analysis, sensitivity analysis and expected monetary value, then prioritise risks and update the register with the findings.

    Plan and Implement Risk Responses

Develop response strategies for threats (avoid, transfer, mitigate, accept) and opportunities (exploit, share, enhance, accept). Assign owners, define triggers and contingency plans, and integrate reserves into the project schedule and budget.

    Monitor and Close Risks

Track identified, residual and secondary risks against triggers and thresholds, run periodic risk reviews, report on the risk profile to stakeholders, and formally close risks with lessons learned captured for future projects.

    Apply Risk Tools and Techniques

Use data-visualisation and analysis tools such as tornado diagrams, heat maps, S-curves and reserve analysis to communicate risk clearly, and prepare for the 115-question, closed-book PMI-RMP exam with confidence.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is PMI's specialist credential in project risk management. It recognises expertise in identifying and assessing risks, mitigating threats and capitalising on opportunities. It suits project and programme professionals in Utrecht who specialise in risk and want to stand out from general practitioners.

    General

What is the PMI-RMP certification and who is it for?

The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is PMI's specialist credential in project risk management. It recognises expertise in identifying and assessing risks, mitigating threats and capitalising on opportunities. It suits project and programme professionals in Utrecht who specialise in risk and want to stand out from general practitioners.

Is the PMI-RMP worth it for professionals in Utrecht?

Yes. Risk manager roles in the Netherlands average around €67,300 a year, with senior and programme risk bands reaching €90,000 and beyond. As grid, rail and regulated projects raise risk stakes, Utrecht employers increasingly value certified risk specialists. Talk to a learning advisor to plan your path.

Is PMP required before taking the PMI-RMP?

No. PMP certification is not a prerequisite for PMI-RMP. You can apply directly based on your risk management experience and education. Many professionals do hold both, as PMP and PMI-RMP are highly complementary.

How long is the PMI-RMP certification valid?

The PMI-RMP is valid for three years from the date of certification. To maintain it, you earn 30 professional development units (PDUs) in risk management topics within each three-year cycle through PMI's continuing certification requirements system.

Which standard is the PMI-RMP based on?

The PMI-RMP is based on PMI's Examination Content Outline effective January 2022, and is grounded in the PMI Practice Standard for Project Risk Management and the current PMBOK Guide. The 2022 ECO covers predictive, agile and hybrid risk management approaches.

    Pricing

What is included in the PMI-RMP course fee?

The training fee typically covers PMI-aligned courseware, 32 contact hours of risk education, practice questions, mock exams, application guidance and learner support. The PMI exam fee is billed separately by PMI. Request a quote for current pricing in Utrecht.

How much does the PMI-RMP exam cost?

PMI bills the PMI-RMP exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing, with a lower rate for PMI members than non-members. Fees vary and are updated periodically, so confirm the current amount on pmi.org before you apply.

Do you offer corporate or group discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for project teams, PMOs and risk functions in Utrecht and beyond. Contact us for a tailored group quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

Does PMI membership reduce the cost?

Yes. PMI individual membership lowers the exam fee and provides free access to the PMI Practice Standard for Project Risk Management. Membership is renewed annually; check current membership and exam fees on pmi.org before applying.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-RMP exam?

The PMI-RMP exam is closed book with multiple-choice questions in single-answer and multiple-answer formats. It is delivered online through Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre, and is based on the January 2022 Examination Content Outline.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The PMI-RMP exam has 115 questions and a total allotted time of 2.5 hours (150 minutes). It is a closed-book, scenario-based examination that tests your ability to apply risk tools and techniques rather than pure recall.

What are the exam domains and their weights?

The exam covers five domains from the January 2022 ECO: Risk Strategy and Planning (20%), Risk Identification (20%), Risk Analysis (23%), Risk Response (22%) and Monitor and Close Risks (15%).

What is the passing score for the PMI-RMP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

What if I do not pass the exam, can I retake it?

Yes. You are permitted up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility period from application approval. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our prep resources and mock exams are designed to help you pass first time.

    Course Content

What topics does the PMI-RMP training cover?

The training covers the five ECO domains: Risk Strategy and Planning, Risk Identification, Risk Analysis, Risk Response, and Monitor and Close Risks. It includes qualitative and quantitative tools such as probability and impact matrices, Monte Carlo simulation, decision trees and expected monetary value.

Does this training meet the PMI-RMP education requirement?

Yes. The programme provides 32 contact hours of project risk management education, which fully satisfies the 30-hour requirement for candidates with a bachelor's degree or a GAC-accredited degree. Candidates applying under the secondary-diploma route need 40 hours and should add supplementary study.

Are practice questions and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full-length mock exams aligned to the 115-question, closed-book PMI-RMP format, plus quizzes to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Do I need prior experience to take the training?

Anyone can attend the training. To sit the exam, PMI requires project risk management experience and education under one of three eligibility routes. The course builds your knowledge from the ground up and supports learners moving into a risk role.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest ECO?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to PMI's Examination Content Outline effective January 2022, and reflects the PMI Practice Standard for Project Risk Management and the current PMBOK Guide, covering predictive, agile and hybrid approaches.
