What is the PgMP certification and who is it for?

The Program Management Professional (PgMP) is PMI's senior credential for professionals who manage multiple related projects as one programme to deliver strategic benefits. It is designed for experienced programme managers, PMP holders moving up, and PMO and delivery leaders with substantial programme experience.

Is PMP required before the PgMP?

No. PMP certification is not a mandatory prerequisite. However, an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three PgMP eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their programme management experience.

Is the PgMP recognised in the Maldives?

Yes. As a PMI credential, the PgMP carries global recognition and is valued by senior employers in tourism, construction, banking, telecoms and the public sector. Fewer than 3,000 practitioners worldwide hold it, which makes it a strong differentiator.

How long is the PgMP valid and how is it renewed?

The PgMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle within each three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle, with a minimum of eight PDUs in each area.

How much does PgMP training cost in the Maldives?

Instructor-led PgMP training is quoted locally and depends on the format and cohort, so pricing is available on request. The PMI exam fee is billed separately in USD and is not part of the training fee. Request a quote or speak with a learning advisor for current pricing.

What is included in the PgMP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, exam simulator access, downloadable templates, application and panel-review support, learner support, and a course completion certificate with contact hours.

How much is the PgMP exam fee?

PMI bills the exam separately in USD under regional pricing, around USD 800 for members and USD 1,000 for non-members, for reference. PMI membership reduces the exam fee and gives free access to the Standard for Program Management. Confirm current fees on the PMI store.

What is the format of the PgMP exam?

The PgMP exam is closed book with multiple-choice questions, based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and the Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition. Questions are distributed across the five program management performance domains.

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 170 questions and an allotted time of four hours. It is delivered online via Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What are the PgMP exam domains and their weights?

Five domains: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%). Program Life Cycle Management carries the largest share of the exam.

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PgMP. A panel of programme management practitioners evaluates your documented experience. It is a mandatory step alongside the written exam, and both must be passed to earn the credential.

What if I do not pass the exam on the first attempt?

PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Our preparation includes mock exams, an exam simulator and trainer guidance to build readiness, and re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Confirm current amounts on the PMI store.

What topics are covered in the PgMP training?

The training covers the five PgMP performance domains: Strategic Program Management, Program Life Cycle Management, Benefits Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Governance, plus application and panel-review guidance and exam strategy, aligned to the 4th edition of the Standard for Program Management.

Do I need prior experience to benefit from the training?

The PgMP is a senior credential, so the training assumes existing programme or project experience. It consolidates that experience against PMI's framework and prepares you for the application, panel review and exam. Our trainers help you map your background to the domains.

What learning resources and materials are provided?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, references to the PgMP Examination Content Outline and Handbook, a Standard for Program Management overview, templates, flashcards, chapter-wise quizzes and practice questions.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams, an exam simulator and topic-wise quizzes aligned to the 170-question format, so you can identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Is the courseware aligned with the current PgMP standard?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to PMI's Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, and the current PgMP Examination Content Outline, so you prepare against the standard the exam is based on.

What are the eligibility requirements to sit the PgMP exam?

PMI offers three sets. With a secondary diploma: 48 months of project management experience or a PMP, plus 84 months of programme experience. With a bachelor's degree: 48 months plus 48 months. With a GAC-accredited degree: 36 months plus 36 months. All experience must fall within the past 15 years.

What training formats are available?
