What is the PfMP certification and who is it for?

Is the PfMP worth it for professionals in the Maldives?

Yes. As Maldivian employers scale airport, port, housing and digital programmes under tight budgets, they need leaders who connect delivery to strategy. Senior portfolio roles command strong pay, and credentialed portfolio leaders remain scarce, so the PfMP is a strong career investment.

Is the PfMP recognised in the Maldives?

Yes. The PfMP is a globally recognised PMI credential valued across the Maldives and worldwide, including tourism groups, banks, telecoms and state-owned enterprises that run large project portfolios. PMI credentials are referenced by senior employers in over 200 countries.

Do I need PMP or PgMP before taking the PfMP?

No. Neither the PMP nor the PgMP is a formal prerequisite for the PfMP. Eligibility is based on general business experience and portfolio management experience, not on prior PMI certifications, though many senior portfolio leaders do hold one or both.

How long is the PfMP valid and how do I renew it?

The PfMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle within each three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle, with a minimum of 8 PDUs in each Talent Triangle area.

How much does PfMP training cost in the Maldives?

PfMP training in the Maldives is available on request and varies by format and group size, covering courseware, practice resources and application support. Request a quote for live online or onsite options. The PMI exam fee is billed separately by PMI and is not part of the training fee.

What is included in the PfMP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, exam simulator access, downloadable portfolio templates, application and panel-review support, learner support, and a course completion certificate with contact hours.

How much is the PfMP exam fee?

PMI bills the exam fee in USD, for reference around USD 800 for members and USD 1,000 for non-members, and periodically updated. PMI membership is about USD 139 a year and lowers the exam and renewal costs. Confirm current fees on the PMI store before applying.

What is the format of the PfMP exam?

The PfMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PfMP Examination Content Outline and the Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition. It uses scenario-based questions across five performance domains and is delivered by Pearson VUE.

How many questions are on the PfMP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 170 questions and an allotted time of four hours (240 minutes). It is delivered online through Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What are the PfMP exam domains and their weights?

Five domains: Strategic Alignment (25%), Governance (20%), Portfolio Performance (25%), Portfolio Risk Management (14%) and Communications Management (16%). The training covers all five so you can prepare across the full outline.

What is the passing score for the PfMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. The result is set through psychometric analysis, with domain feedback reported as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

What if I do not pass, can I retake the exam?

Yes. PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Reexamination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our prep resources and Flexi options help you strengthen weak domains before you resit.

Yes. The programme includes 1000+ practice questions, full-length mock exams, an exam simulator and topic-wise quizzes to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness across the domains.

Can a first-time applicant handle the panel review?

Yes. The training guides you through documenting your portfolio experience and preparing for the expert panel review that PMI requires alongside the exam. Trainers help you map your experience to the domains for a strong submission.

Will I receive a certificate of completion?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate along with the contact hours earned through the programme, which also count towards your professional development.

What are the eligibility requirements for the PfMP exam?

Anyone can join the training. To sit the exam, PMI requires 120 months (10 years) of business experience within the past 15 years, plus portfolio management experience of 84 months with a secondary degree or 48 months with a bachelor's, and a panel review.

How do I enrol in the PfMP course in the Maldives?
