What Is the CAPM Certification?UntitledYour First Step into Project Management

The Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) is the Project Management Institute's entry-level credential for professionals who want to prove they understand how projects really run. CAPM certification training in Maldives gives you that grounding in 24 hours of instructor-led learning, which also satisfies the 23 hours of project management education PMI requires before you sit the exam. No project work experience is needed. A secondary school qualification plus those 23 hours of education is the entire entry requirement, which makes this the most accessible route into a profession that Maldivian resorts, contractors, banks and telecom operators depend on every day. The course follows PMI's CAPM Examination Content Outline effective 2023 and the PMBOK Guide Eighth Edition, covering predictive plan-based delivery, agile frameworks, business analysis and the core concepts every project team member is expected to know. With resort construction, the Velana International Airport expansion and island infrastructure programmes all competing for capable project people, this is a strong moment to start your journey with Invensis Learning.

What You Gain from Getting CertifiedRecognition, Roles and Confidence

    For Individuals

    For Individuals

Certified CAPM training turns project curiosity into proof. It validates that you understand scope, schedule, cost, risk, quality, stakeholders and agile delivery to a standard PMI itself defines, which is exactly what hiring managers in Male and across the atolls look for when they shortlist entry-level project talent. It suits students, recent graduates, career changers and team members who already contribute to projects but have never had that contribution formally recognised.

If you want a recognised project credential without waiting years to accumulate experience, this is the credential built for you. You leave with a working command of the four exam domains, a study plan, and the confidence to apply for roles that were previously out of reach.

    • Enter project management with a PMI credential, without needing any prior work experience
    • Stand out for coordinator, scheduler and analyst roles that draw dozens of applicants
    • Earn the 23 hours of project management education PMI requires, built into the course
    • Speak the delivery language resort, construction and banking teams already use
    • Work confidently across predictive, agile and hybrid projects, not just one method
    • Carry a credential recognised by employers in the Maldives and in over 200 countries
    • Build a clear runway toward the PMP once you have led projects for a few years
    • Move from supporting projects to being trusted with your own workstreams
    For Organizations

    For Organizations

Group training helps Maldivian organisations close the gap between eager junior staff and the disciplined project practice that resort builds, network rollouts and public infrastructure demand. Teams learn one method, one set of terms and one way to report progress. The programme fits PMOs, engineering teams, business analysis functions and graduate cohorts.

If project status arrives late, scope creeps quietly and every site reports differently, a certified team is the cheapest fix available. Your people leave using the same templates, the same terminology and the same standard of evidence.

    • Give junior staff a shared project vocabulary before they are handed real delivery risk
    • Reduce rework and handover errors caused by informal, undocumented project practice
    • Build local project capability instead of relying on expatriate mid-level managers
    • Standardise how scope, schedule and risk are tracked across islands and sites
    • Prepare a bench of coordinators who can grow into project managers in house
    • Strengthen reporting quality so leadership sees accurate project status earlier
    • Deliver training on your schedule, live virtual or onsite in the Maldives
    • Support graduate and trainee programmes with a credential that motivates progress

Market Forces Driving Demand for Project Talent in the Maldives

A Building Boom Without Enough Planners

Around USD 2bn of construction is under way across dozens of islands. Every resort, harbour and housing project needs people who can plan, schedule and track cost properly.

Learn planning, scheduling and cost control

    Airport Megaproject Coordination at Scale

The Velana International Airport expansion is aiming at 25 million passengers. Work at that scale needs disciplined stakeholder engagement, clear reporting and rigorous change control.

    Build stakeholder and reporting skills

Skilled Manager Shortage and Expat Reliance

The World Bank flags a shortage of skilled labour and heavy dependence on foreign workers in mid-level management. Certified local candidates are exactly what employers say they cannot find.

    Certify local project capability

    Public Projects Slipping on Delivery

Limited human resource capacity delays planning and implementation of public works. Teams that can baseline scope, track variance and escalate risk early are what fix that.

    Delivering Across 1,000 Scattered Islands

Materials, crews and approvals move slowly between atolls. Sound procurement, communication planning and schedule buffers turn island logistics from a surprise into a managed risk.

The Digital Economy Push Needs Delivery Skills

With digital services targeted to reach 15% of GDP by 2030, banks and telecom operators are running agile and hybrid programmes that need people fluent in both ways of working.

    Your Maldives Career Transformation

The Gap Between Helping on Projects and Leading Them

    How the CAPM Closes It

The Maldives is running a building and digital agenda far larger than its supply of trained project people, and employers are openly short of skilled mid-level managers. That shortage is your opening, if you can prove you are ready.

Project knowledge picked up on the job, with nothing to show for it

    Now you have

A PMI credential that proves you know how projects are planned, run and closed

    Before

Familiar with how one team works, unsure how anyone else delivers

    Now you have

Fluency in predictive, agile and hybrid delivery, whichever way your employer works

    Before

Interested in a project career but unclear how to qualify for one

    Now you have

The Project Skills You Will BuildPredictive, Agile and Hybrid Delivery

You will learn to plan, track and support a project end to end, across predictive, agile and hybrid ways of working. Every skill below maps to one of the four domains of PMI's CAPM Examination Content Outline effective 2023, which is drawn from the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition and the Agile Practice Guide.

    Project Fundamentals and Core Concepts

Skills covered in the CAPM start here: tell projects, programmes and portfolios apart, work through the project life cycle, understand the roles of sponsor, manager and team, read a project charter, and apply PMI's project management principles with confidence. This is the largest domain of the exam at 36%.

    Predictive Plan-Based Delivery

Run a project the traditional way: the five process groups, work breakdown structures, critical path scheduling, cost estimation and budgeting, quality tools, risk registers, procurement basics and earned value measures such as SPI and CPI. Worth 17% of the exam and the backbone of construction and infrastructure work.

    Agile Frameworks and Methodologies

Work the way digital teams work: the Agile Manifesto, Scrum roles, events and artefacts, Kanban boards and WIP limits, Lean thinking, XP practices, user stories, velocity, burndown charts and retrospectives. Worth 20% of the exam and increasingly expected in Maldivian banking and telecoms.

    Business Analysis Frameworks

Get requirements right before delivery starts: needs assessment, elicitation through interviews and workshops, requirements traceability, process and use case models, acceptance criteria and solution evaluation. At 27% this is the second largest domain, and the skill set junior analysts are hired for.

    Hybrid Delivery and Tailoring

Choose an approach rather than inherit one. Learn how predictive and agile elements combine in hybrid delivery, when each is appropriate, and how organisational structure and the PMO shape the authority you actually have on a project.

    Exam Readiness and Study Strategy

Prepare for the real thing: 150 multiple-choice questions in 3 hours, closed book, with domain-level feedback. You practise with questions mapped to the four exam domains, learn to read situational wording carefully, and build a revision plan you can actually keep to.

    What Our Learners Say

Moved from Site Support to Coordinator

"I had been assisting on resort fit-out projects for two years without any formal training. The course finally explained why we do what we do, and the agile sessions were completely new to me. I passed the exam and moved into a project coordinator role three months later."

The Right First Credential for a Graduate

"As a recent graduate with no experience, I did not think a PMI credential was even open to me. The trainer walked us through the four domains carefully and the practice questions were very close to the real paper. It gave me something real to put on my CV."

A Clean Switch into Project Delivery

"I came from a banking operations background and wanted to move into delivery. The business analysis and Scrum sections were the most useful parts for me, and I now sit in sprint reviews and write user stories with confidence."

    Our Reporting Quality Improved Quickly

"We put eight junior staff through the programme as a group. The live virtual format worked well for our people posted outside Male, and the difference in how they report progress and escalate risk is obvious. Status meetings are far shorter now."

    Built Project Capability in House

"We were relying on expatriate managers for project discipline. Training our own graduates gave us a local bench that understands both predictive planning and agile ways of working. The trainer tailored the case studies to our sector, which the team appreciated."

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

Yes, because it is the only PMI credential you can earn with no project work experience, and it puts you in the running for coordinator, scheduler and analyst roles paying from around MVR 17,700 a month upward. With roughly USD 2bn of construction under way and skilled managers in short supply, certified entrants stand out.

    General

Is the CAPM worth it for someone starting out in the Maldives?

Yes, because it is the only PMI credential you can earn with no project work experience, and it puts you in the running for coordinator, scheduler and analyst roles paying from around MVR 17,700 a month upward. With roughly USD 2bn of construction under way and skilled managers in short supply, certified entrants stand out.

What is the CAPM certification and who is it for?

The Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) is the Project Management Institute's entry-level credential, proving you understand the fundamental knowledge, terminology and processes of project management. It is designed for students, recent graduates, career changers and project team members who want to enter the profession.

Do I need project management experience to take the CAPM?

No. The CAPM is the only PMI practitioner credential that requires no project management work experience. You need a secondary degree, such as a school leaving qualification or global equivalent, plus 23 hours of project management education, which this training provides.

Is the credential recognised by employers in the Maldives?

Yes. As a PMI credential it is recognised through PMI's network in over 200 countries, and Maldivian employers in resort development, construction, banking, telecoms and the public sector treat it as credible evidence of foundational project knowledge.

How long is the certification valid and how do I renew it?

It is valid for three years from the date of certification. Unlike the PMP, renewal is by retaking and passing the exam within the three-year cycle rather than by accumulating PDUs, so there is no continuing education cycle to track.

How is the CAPM different from the PMP?

The CAPM is entry level and needs only 23 contact hours of project management education with no work experience. The PMP is the advanced credential and requires 36 to 60 months of leading projects plus 35 contact hours. The CAPM is the natural first step toward PMP eligibility later.

    Pricing

What is included in the training fee and how do I pay?

Your fee covers 24 hours of instructor-led training, courseware aligned to the exam content outline, industry case studies, practice questions and mock exams, plus guidance on the PMI application. Fees for the Maldives are quoted in MVR or USD on request. Talk to a learning advisor for a quote.

How much does the training cost in the Maldives?

Pricing is available on request and depends on the format you choose: live online, classroom or corporate group delivery. We quote in MVR or USD for learners in the Maldives. Request a quote and we will confirm the current fee and upcoming batches.

Is the PMI exam fee included in the training fee?

No. PMI bills the exam fee separately through its own portal, with a lower rate for PMI members than for non-members. Verify the current fee at pmi.org before you apply, as PMI updates its pricing periodically.

Does PMI membership reduce the overall cost?

Yes. PMI members pay a reduced exam fee and get access to the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition and the Agile Practice Guide at no extra charge, which are the two reference standards behind the exam. Check current membership and exam rates at pmi.org.

Do you offer group or corporate pricing for teams?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and group-based pricing for teams in Male and across the atolls, delivered onsite or live virtual. Ask about corporate pricing and we will build a quote around your cohort size.

    Exam

What happens if I do not pass the exam the first time?

You get up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility window that starts when PMI approves your application, so a first attempt is not your only chance. Your score report shows domain-level feedback, which tells you exactly where to focus, and our trainers help you build a revision plan from it.

What is the format of the CAPM exam?

The exam has 150 questions and a time limit of 3 hours. It is closed book and multiple choice, including both single-answer and multiple-answer items, and is based on PMI's CAPM Examination Content Outline effective 2023.

What does the CAPM exam cover?

Four domains: Project Management Fundamentals and Core Concepts (36%), Predictive Plan-Based Methodologies (17%), Agile Frameworks and Methodologies (20%), and Business Analysis Frameworks (27%). Roughly half the paper deals with predictive delivery and half with agile and hybrid approaches.

Is there a fixed passing score for the exam?

No. PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing standard and does not publish a fixed percentage. Results are reported as pass or fail with performance feedback for each of the four domains, so the goal is balanced command of all four rather than a target number.

Where can I sit the exam from the Maldives?

You can take it online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctored system from home or the office, or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done through PMI's portal or the Pearson VUE website once your application is approved.

How long do I have to sit the exam after applying?

One year from the date PMI approves your application, with up to three attempts inside that window. PMI also audits a random share of applications, and audited candidates have 90 days to submit their training certificates.

    Course Content

Can a complete beginner take this course?

Yes, and beginners are exactly who it is built for. No project management experience is assumed, the trainer starts from what a project is, and the case studies and practice questions build your confidence step by step through all four exam domains.

Which standard and edition is the training based on?

The training follows PMI's CAPM Examination Content Outline effective 2023, which draws on the PMBOK Guide Eighth Edition and the Agile Practice Guide. Your courseware is aligned to the same sources, so you study exactly what the exam tests.

What will I learn in the CAPM training?

Project fundamentals and the project life cycle, predictive delivery including work breakdown structures, critical path and earned value, agile frameworks such as Scrum and Kanban, business analysis and requirements, plus hybrid tailoring and stakeholder engagement.

Does the training meet the 23-hour education requirement?

Yes. The programme runs to 24 contact hours of instructor-led training, which exceeds the 23 hours of project management education PMI requires, so completing it fully satisfies that eligibility condition.

What materials and practice resources are included?

You receive courseware aligned to the exam content outline and the PMBOK Guide, industry-driven case studies that show project principles in realistic scenarios, and practice questions and mock exams mapped to the 150-question, 3-hour format.

How many days does the training run for?

The programme is 24 hours in total, and the number of days depends on the schedule you choose. It can run as three full days at 8 hours, four days at 6 hours, or six half days at 4 hours, so it fits around work commitments.

    Enrollment

How soon can I start and how do I enrol?

You can enrol online today and join the next available batch. Choose your format, complete payment, and you receive your schedule, courseware and learning resources straight away. See upcoming batches or talk to a learning advisor to pick the right one.

What training formats are available in the Maldives?

We offer online (live virtual) instructor-led training, classroom sessions, focused one-to-one coaching and corporate group training delivered onsite. Live online works well for learners based outside Male who cannot travel for a classroom batch.

What do I need before I can enrol?

Nothing beyond an interest in project management. Anyone can join the training. To sit the exam afterwards, PMI asks for a secondary degree or global equivalent plus 23 hours of project management education, which the course itself provides.

Can I reschedule or move to a different batch?

Yes. Contact our support team and we will move you to another batch subject to availability. Selected plans also include a retake option so you can attend the training again if you want a second pass through the material.

What is the refund or cancellation policy?

Refunds and cancellations are handled under our published policy, and the terms depend on the plan you select and how close you are to the batch start date. Contact our team before you book and we will confirm exactly what applies to your enrolment.

Can you train my whole team at our offices?

Yes. Corporate group training can be delivered onsite at your premises in the Maldives or live virtual for teams spread across the atolls, with schedules and case studies tailored to your sector. Ask us for a group quote.
