Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

PMI-RMP (PMI Risk Management Professional) is PMI's specialist credential in project risk management. It recognises expertise in identifying threats, capitalising on opportunities and protecting project value. It suits risk specialists, project and programme managers, and PMO analysts.

    General

What is the PMI-RMP certification and who is it for?

PMI-RMP (PMI Risk Management Professional) is PMI's specialist credential in project risk management. It recognises expertise in identifying threats, capitalising on opportunities and protecting project value. It suits risk specialists, project and programme managers, and PMO analysts.

Is the PMI-RMP worth it for professionals in Malta?

Yes. Malta's banking, insurance, iGaming and ICT sectors face heavy regulatory and operational risk demands under MFSA, MGA and EU frameworks, so certified risk professionals are valued. Risk manager roles average around EUR 53,900 a year, with senior roles reaching higher.

Do I need a PMP before taking the PMI-RMP?

No. PMP is not a prerequisite for PMI-RMP. You can apply directly based on your risk management experience and education. Many PMI-RMP holders also hold PMP, as the two credentials are complementary.

How long is the PMI-RMP certification valid?

PMI-RMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 30 PDUs in risk management topics within each three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle.

Which standard is the PMI-RMP based on?

The exam follows the PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline (ECO) effective January 2022, aligned to the PMBOK Guide and the PMI Practice Standard for Project Risk Management. It covers predictive, agile and hybrid approaches.

    Pricing

What is included in the PMI-RMP training fee?

The fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, 32 contact hours of instruction, practice questions, mock exams, risk templates, application guidance and learner support. The PMI exam fee is billed separately. Request a quote for full details.

How much does PMI-RMP training cost in Malta?

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-RMP exam?

The PMI-RMP exam is closed book with multiple-choice questions in single-answer and multiple-answer formats. It is delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre, and is based on the ECO effective January 2022.

How many questions are on the PMI-RMP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 115 questions and you have 2.5 hours (150 minutes) to complete it. The questions are distributed across the five risk management domains defined in the ECO.

What are the PMI-RMP exam domains and their weights?

There are five domains: Risk Strategy and Planning (20%), Risk Identification (20%), Risk Analysis (23%), Risk Response (22%) and Monitor and Close Risks (15%).

What is the passing score for the PMI-RMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed pass mark. The result is set through psychometric analysis, and performance is reported by domain as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

What if I do not pass the exam the first time?

You get up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period from application approval. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our prep resources and mock exams are designed to help you pass with confidence.

Where can I take the PMI-RMP exam in Malta?

You can sit the exam via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring from home or office, or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done through PMI's portal or the Pearson VUE website.

    Course Content

What topics does the PMI-RMP training cover?

The training covers all five ECO domains: Risk Strategy and Planning, Risk Identification, Risk Analysis, Risk Response, and Monitor and Close Risks, plus qualitative and quantitative tools and exam strategy.

Does this training meet the PMI-RMP education requirement?
