What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam is closed book with multiple-choice questions in single-answer and multiple-answer formats. It is based on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and the current edition of the PMBOK Guide, and is delivered via Pearson VUE online proctoring or at a test centre.

How many questions are on the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam has 120 questions and a time limit of 230 minutes, which is 3 hours and 50 minutes. Questions are distributed across the four domains: Contracts Management, Stakeholder Engagement, Strategy and Scope Management, and Project Governance.

What are the PMI-CP exam domains and their weights?

There are four domains: Contracts Management at 50%, Stakeholder Engagement at 30%, Strategy and Scope Management at 15%, and Project Governance at 5%. Contracts Management is the largest, reflecting the central role of contracts in construction.

What are the prerequisites for the PMI-CP exam?

You complete four mandatory self-paced modules, then meet one experience set: a secondary diploma with 60 months of construction PM experience, a bachelor's degree with 36 months, or a GAC-accredited degree with 24 months, each within the past 10 years, plus 35 contact hours of PM education.

What is the passing score, and can I retake the exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score rather than a fixed percentage, reporting results by domain. You get up to three attempts within a one-year eligibility period, so you can retake the exam if needed.

Where can I sit the PMI-CP exam in Malta?

You can take the exam online through Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring from home or office, or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done through PMI's portal or Pearson VUE within your one-year eligibility window.

The training covers the four PMI-CP domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%), plus guidance on the four prerequisite modules and exam strategy.

Yes. The programme guides you through the four mandatory self-paced modules: Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management, which together award 56 PDUs before you apply.

Do I need construction experience to take the training?

You can join the training at any stage, but sitting the PMI-CP exam requires construction project management experience under one of PMI's three eligibility sets. The course helps you plan your application alongside your learning.
