Do I need prior Lean experience?

Assessment

Is there an exam for this course?

No. Lean Manufacturing Training is a non-certification course with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on Lean tool exercises, waste identification activities and manufacturing case studies during the one-day programme.

Do I receive a certificate?

Yes. You receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning on finishing the programme. This is a record of training completed, not a formal certification from an external body, as Lean has no single awarding body.

How am I assessed during the training?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, you apply Lean tools to realistic production scenarios through exercises such as waste walks, value stream mapping, 5S assessment, OEE calculation and Kanban sizing, so you practise the skills as you learn them.

Will I be able to apply Lean at work straight away?

Yes. The training is designed for immediate application. You can run waste walks, facilitate value stream mapping, implement 5S, design Kanban systems, calculate OEE and lead Kaizen improvements in your own plant right after the course.

What can I do after completing the training?

After the programme you can explain the five Lean principles and the Toyota Production System, classify the eight wastes, interpret a value stream map, run 5S, design a Kanban pull system, calculate OEE, write standard work and lead Kaizen improvement on the shop floor.

Course Content

What topics does the Lean course cover?

The course covers Lean foundations and the Toyota Production System, the eight wastes (DOWNTIME), value stream mapping, 5S and visual management, pull systems and Kanban, JIT, TPM and OEE, standard work, SMED quick changeover, Heijunka, Poka Yoke and building a Lean culture, with exercises throughout.

How long is the training?

The programme runs for one day (8 hours), and can also be delivered as two half-day (4-hour) sessions totalling 8 hours. It covers all six Lean modules with concept explanations, case studies and hands-on tool exercises.

Are there hands-on exercises?

Yes. The day includes practical exercises such as a Gemba-based waste walk, value stream data collection, a 5S workplace assessment, OEE calculation and Kanban quantity sizing, so you practise each Lean tool on realistic scenarios.

What materials are provided?

You receive structured course materials, reference guides and downloadable Lean templates covering value stream mapping, 5S, standard work and OEE, plus the exercises used during the session for later use in your own plant.

Is the course relevant to non-manufacturing operations?

Yes. While the focus is manufacturing, the Lean principles and many tools (5S, Kaizen, value stream mapping, waste elimination) apply to logistics, warehousing, healthcare operations and other production or service environments.
