    Is PMP required before taking the PMI-CP?

    No. A PMP is not a prerequisite for the PMI-CP. You can pursue the PMI-CP based on your construction project management experience and education. The two credentials are complementary, with the PMP covering general project management and the PMI-CP validating construction-specific expertise.

    Which standard and body is the PMI-CP based on?

    The PMI-CP is governed by the Project Management Institute (PMI) and based on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline, aligned to the PMBOK Guide Eighth Edition and construction industry practices.     How long is the PMI-CP certification valid?

    The PMI-CP is valid for three years. To maintain it you earn 60 professional development units (PDUs) within each three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle. The 56 PDUs from the four prerequisite modules can be applied toward renewal.

    What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

    The PMI-CP exam is closed book with multiple-choice questions in single-answer and multiple-answer formats. It is delivered online through Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre, and covers the four construction domains in the ECO.

    How many questions are on the PMI-CP exam and how long is it?

    The exam has 120 questions and an allotted time of 230 minutes, which is 3 hours and 50 minutes. Questions are distributed across the four domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%).

    What are the prerequisites for the PMI-CP exam?

    You must complete all four self-paced modules and meet one experience and education set: a secondary diploma plus 60 months of construction PM experience, a bachelor's degree plus 36 months, or a GAC-accredited degree plus 24 months. All sets require 35 contact hours of PM education.

    What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

    PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. The result is determined through psychometric analysis, with domain-level feedback reported as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all four domains.

    What if I do not pass the exam on the first attempt?

    You are permitted up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility period from application approval. Re-examination fees apply to later attempts. Our preparation, mock exams and ECO-aligned practice are designed to help you pass first time.

    Anyone can enrol in the training. To sit the PMI-CP exam you need construction project management experience and education as defined by PMI. The programme is structured to support both experienced managers and those stepping up from site roles.

    What are the four mandatory prerequisite modules?

    All candidates complete four self-paced modules in any order before applying: Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management. Each is a 6 to 10 hour commitment and awards 14 PDUs, for 56 PDUs in total.

    Is the courseware aligned with the current PMI-CP syllabus?

    Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition, so you study the domains, tasks and enablers exactly as tested by PMI.

    Are practice tests and mock exams included?

    Yes. The programme includes ECO-aligned practice questions, full-length mock exams and topic-wise quizzes across the four domains, helping you identify weak areas and build readiness for the 120-question exam.
