    What is the format of the Black Belt exam?

    The IASSC Black Belt exam is closed book and contains 150 multiple-choice questions, each worth one mark. Some forms include up to 15 additional unscored questions. A reference document with formulas and tables is provided for use during the exam.

    How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

    There are 150 scored multiple-choice questions and you have four hours, that is 240 minutes, to complete the exam. Non-native speakers or candidates with a disability may be allowed an additional 60 minutes.

    What is the passing score for the Black Belt exam?

    You need a minimum of 580 points out of 750 to pass. The exam covers all five DMAIC phases, so aim for broad mastery across Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control rather than focusing on one area.

    How is the Black Belt exam delivered?

    You can sit the exam through an online proctored, web-based system available 24/7, or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Candidates in Jordan can choose whichever option is more convenient.

    What is the exam application process?

    What topics does the Black Belt training cover?

    The training covers all five DMAIC phases: Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control. You learn project selection, measurement system analysis, hypothesis testing, regression, designed experiments, statistical process control and Lean tools.

    Will I learn advanced statistics and design of experiments?

    Yes. Advanced statistics is the core of Black Belt level training. You cover hypothesis testing for normal and non-normal data, ANOVA, simple and multiple regression, and full and fractional factorial designed experiments.

    Are Lean tools included in the programme?

    Yes. Lean is integrated throughout the DMAIC framework. You learn 5S, value stream mapping, the seven wastes, Kanban and Poka-Yoke mistake-proofing, and how to combine them with statistical methods to sustain results.

    Are practice tests and mock exams provided?

    Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full-length mock exams modelled on the 150-question, four-hour format. These help you find weak areas, build recall and approach exam day with confidence.

    Will I receive a certificate of completion?

    Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate, which is separate from the certification you earn by passing the official Black Belt exam.
