Why Project Scheduling Skills Are in Demand in Iceland

    Energy and Geothermal Mega-Projects

Iceland's green and geothermal expansion runs long, capital-heavy projects that need strong scheduling, resource levelling and risk tracking, the exact work Microsoft Project is built for.

Learn advanced scheduling and resource skills

    Construction Shortages and Delivery Pressure

Construction faces acute shortages of skilled trades while projects grow more complex, so planners who can build reliable schedules and track progress are in high demand.

Build baseline tracking and reporting skills

    A Fast-Growing Technology Sector

Technology contributes around 8.5% of GDP and grows near 4.3% a year, adding software and infrastructure projects that need structured planning beyond ad hoc spreadsheets.

Move from spreadsheets to structured plans

    Fragmented, Spreadsheet-Based Planning

Many Icelandic teams still plan in spreadsheets, causing fragile dependencies and poor resource visibility that tool-trained project professionals are hired to fix.

Master dependencies and the critical path

    Multi-Project Coordination in Lean Teams

Lean Icelandic organisations often run many projects at once with limited staff, making master-project and consolidated resource skills genuinely valuable.

Learn master projects and resource pools

    Demand for Clear Stakeholder Reporting

Boards and sponsors want clear, credible project status, so professionals who can produce baseline comparisons and custom reports quickly stand out.

Build custom views and status reports

How is my learning assessed during the course?

What will I be able to do after the Fundamentals level?

You will be able to create a project file, build a task list with dependencies and milestones, identify the critical path, assign work, material and cost resources, set a baseline, track progress and generate built-in status reports.

What will I be able to do after the Advanced level?

You will be able to apply task types correctly, run resource levelling, calculate and report earned value, build custom fields, views and reports, manage master projects with cross-project links, and model what-if scenarios using multiple baselines.

Do I receive any proof of completion?

Yes. On completing each level you receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning that recognises the practical Microsoft Project skills you have built.

    Course Content

What topics does the Microsoft Project course cover?

Fundamentals covers project setup, the work breakdown structure, task dependencies and the critical path, resources, baselines, tracking and reporting. Advanced adds advanced scheduling, resource levelling, cost and earned value, custom reporting and multi-project management.

How long is each level and how many hours?

Yes. The Fundamentals level is designed for people who are new to Microsoft Project or use it only occasionally. No project management qualification is needed to start.

    What learning resources are provided?
