What is the PMI-CP certification and who is it for?

PMI-CP is the Project Management Institute's specialist credential for the construction industry. It validates your ability to deliver complex construction projects and is designed for construction project managers, site managers, project engineers and owner's representatives with construction experience.

Is PMI-CP worth it for construction professionals in Iceland?

Yes. With Iceland's construction pipeline growing across housing, energy and infrastructure such as Sundabraut, employers value professionals who can manage contracts, stakeholders and governance. Construction and contracts roles command strong salaries, from around kr 13.3M for construction managers upward.

Is the PMI-CP recognised in Iceland?

Yes. As a PMI credential, PMI-CP carries global recognition through PMI's network in over 200 countries. It is valued in international construction markets, including Iceland, where clients and contractors seek globally recognised project management credentials.

Is PMP required before taking PMI-CP?

No. PMP is not a prerequisite for PMI-CP. You can apply based on your construction project management experience and education. The two credentials are complementary, with PMP covering general project management and PMI-CP validating construction-specific expertise.

What standard and domains is PMI-CP based on?

PMI-CP is based on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline (ECO) and aligned to the current PMBOK Guide and construction industry practice. The exam covers four domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%).

    Pricing

How much does PMI-CP training cost in Iceland?

Training fees vary by format and provider, so pricing is available on request. The PMI exam fee is billed separately by PMI in USD and is not part of the training fee. Request a quote for current instructor-led and corporate options.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

How many questions are on the PMI-CP exam and how long is it?

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all four domains.

How many attempts do I get for the PMI-CP exam?

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the PMI-CP training?

The training covers the four ECO domains: contract types, administration, variations, claims and closeout under Contracts Management; stakeholder and owner engagement; scope, schedule, cost, risk and quality under Strategy and Scope Management; and project governance, reporting and compliance.

What are the four mandatory prerequisite modules?

Before applying you must complete four self-paced modules, each a 6 to 10 hour commitment worth 14 PDUs: Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management. Together they award 56 PDUs applicable to renewals.

Do I need prior construction experience to qualify?

Anyone can enrol in the training. To sit the exam, PMI requires construction project management experience plus 35 contact hours of project management education, under one of three eligibility sets based on your education level.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest PMI-CP syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and the current PMBOK Guide, so you prepare against the four domains and construction practices the exam tests.

What are the eligibility requirements to sit PMI-CP?

You must complete the four mandatory modules and meet one of three sets: a secondary diploma with 60 months of construction PM experience; a bachelor's degree with 36 months; or a GAC-accredited degree with 24 months. All sets require 35 contact hours of PM education.
