Which Jira levels does the course cover?

The training runs at two levels. Fundamentals (2 days, 16 hours) covers projects, issues, Scrum and Kanban boards, roadmaps, filters and Agile reports. Advanced (3 days, 24 hours) covers workflows, schemes, custom fields, JQL, dashboards, automation, integrations and administration.

Should I take Fundamentals or Advanced?

Choose Fundamentals if you are new to Jira or use it occasionally and want a solid, practical foundation. Choose Advanced if you already use Jira regularly and want to master workflow design, automation, JQL, dashboards and administration. Both can be taken independently or in sequence.

Do I need prior experience to attend?

No prior Jira experience is needed for Fundamentals; basic familiarity with web applications is enough. For Advanced, you should have completed Fundamentals or have equivalent hands-on Jira experience.

Assessment

Is there an exam at the end of the Jira training?

No. This is a non-certification skills course, so there is no exam at either level. You build capability through live, hands-on Jira exercises throughout the programme rather than sitting a test.

What do I receive after completing the training?

You receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning. It recognises attendance and completion of the programme; it is not a formal certification, as this is a practical, non-certification Jira skills course.

How is my learning assessed during the course?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, you follow along with live exercises and realistic scenarios, configuring and using Jira as the trainer demonstrates each feature, so you build proficiency by doing.

Do I need my own Jira environment for the course?

You are expected to have access to a Jira environment for the hands-on exercises. Jira Cloud offers a free tier, and you should confirm whether a shared training instance is provided for your session when you enrol.

Will the training reflect the current version of Jira?

Yes. The course is delivered on current Jira, primarily Jira Cloud, with Data Center differences noted where relevant. You practise on the platform teams actually use so the skills transfer straight to your work.

Course Content

What topics are covered in the Jira training?

Fundamentals covers projects, the issue hierarchy, Scrum and Kanban boards, sprints, roadmaps, versions, filters, basic JQL and Agile reports. Advanced covers workflow design, schemes, custom fields, advanced JQL, dashboards, automation, integrations and administration.

Will I learn JQL in the course?

Yes. Fundamentals introduces filters and basic JQL syntax, fields and functions. Advanced extends this to ORDER BY, time-based functions, the CHANGED and WAS operators and complex multi-condition queries for precise reporting.

Does the course cover Jira automation and integrations?

Yes, at the Advanced level. You learn to build no-code automation rules using triggers, conditions and actions, and to connect Jira to Confluence, Bitbucket, GitHub and CI/CD pipelines for end-to-end DevOps delivery tracking.

Is the training hands-on or theory based?

It is hands-on throughout. You follow live instructor demonstrations and complete practical exercises using realistic Agile delivery scenarios in a Jira environment, so you learn by configuring and using Jira, not just watching.

Can beginners cope with the Fundamentals level?

Yes. Fundamentals is designed for people new to Jira and assumes no prior experience with the tool. The trainer builds up from the interface and basic concepts, so beginners finish able to run projects, boards and reports confidently.
