    Is PMP required before PMI-CP?

    No. PMP is not a prerequisite for PMI-CP. You can apply based on your construction experience and education. The two are complementary: PMP validates general project management, while PMI-CP proves construction-specific expertise.

    Is PMI-CP recognised in Ghana and internationally?

    Yes. As a PMI credential, PMI-CP is recognised through PMI's network across more than 200 countries. It is valued by contractors, developers and international firms operating in Ghana, the Gulf and global construction markets.

    What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

    The PMI-CP exam is closed book with multiple-choice questions (single and multiple answer), based on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and the PMBOK Guide, Eighth Edition. It is delivered online proctored or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

    How many questions are on the PMI-CP exam and how long is it?

    The exam has 120 questions and a time limit of 230 minutes (3 hours 50 minutes). Questions are distributed across the four construction domains per the exam content outline.

    What are the PMI-CP exam domains and weights?

    Four domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%). Contracts Management is the largest, reflecting how central contracts and claims are in construction.

    What is the passing score for PMI-CP?

    PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score and does not publish a fixed percentage. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement.

    What are the eligibility requirements for PMI-CP?

    You complete four mandatory self-paced modules, then meet one experience set: Set A (secondary diploma plus 60 months construction PM experience), Set B (bachelor's plus 36 months) or Set C (GAC-accredited degree plus 24 months), each with 35 contact hours of PM education.

    What if I do not pass the first time?

    What are the four mandatory prerequisite modules?

    All candidates complete four self-paced modules before applying: Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management. Each awards 14 PDUs, 56 in total, applicable to renewal.
