What Is Value Stream Mapping and Why It Matters in GeorgiaUntitledA Clear View of How Work Really Flows

Value Stream Mapping training in Georgia teaches you to see an entire operation in a single picture and act on what it reveals. Value Stream Mapping (VSM) is a Lean management technique, rooted in the Toyota Production System and popularised by Mike Rother and John Shook in their 1998 guide Learning to See, for mapping the flow of materials and information from customer demand back to supply. Over one focused day you learn to draw a current-state map, expose the eight wastes of Lean, and design a future-state map that cuts lead time and improves flow. It suits operations managers, engineers, supply chain leads and improvement professionals across Georgia's fast-growing manufacturing, food processing and logistics sectors. This is a practical, non-assessed programme: you leave able to run a mapping workshop for your own team, not just describe the theory. Build the skill with Invensis Learning and start improving flow from day one.

What You Gain from Learning to Map Value StreamsSkills That Show up in Daily Operations

    For Individuals

    For Individuals

Value Stream Mapping helps individual professionals move from reacting to daily problems to designing better flow. In one day you build a practical, tool-focused skill you can apply immediately, whether you work in production, quality, supply chain or service operations. Whether you are formalising a Lean role, leading your first improvement project, or supporting a plant in food processing, logistics or manufacturing, the training gives you a method your whole team can follow.

If you want to be the person who can look at a process and show exactly where time and money leak, VSM is a clear next step. You gain a visual language for improvement, hands-on mapping practice, and the confidence to lead workshops that deliver measurable change.

    • See your whole process in one view and spot the waste others miss
    • Cut lead time by removing non-value-adding steps and bottlenecks
    • Draw current-state and future-state maps using standard VSM symbols
    • Calculate takt time, cycle time and the value-added ratio with confidence

What Is Driving Demand for Lean Skills in Georgia

    Food and Beverage Boom

Georgia's food processing, wine and mineral water producers are scaling fast for export. Meeting demand without rising cost means mapping flow and cutting waste line by line.

    VSM builds waste-elimination skills

    Europe to Asia Transit Load

As a corridor between Europe and Asia, Georgia's logistics and warehousing operators must move goods faster and leaner. Value stream mapping exposes the delays that slow throughput.

VSM builds flow and throughput skills

    EU Export Standards

DCFTA access to the EU raises the bar on quality and efficiency. Producers that map and standardise their value streams protect margin while meeting tighter delivery expectations.

    VSM builds standardisation skills

    Manufacturing Investment

Rising foreign investment in manufacturing and renewables brings new plants that need Lean discipline from the start. Trained mappers help commission efficient flow early.

    VSM builds process design skills

    Scarce Improvement Talent

Georgia has a growing operations base but few practitioners who can facilitate value stream mapping. That shortage makes the skill a genuine differentiator for professionals.

    VSM makes practitioners stand out

    Cost and Energy Pressure

Higher input and energy costs push Georgian operations to eliminate waste rather than raise prices. Mapping the value stream shows exactly where time and money leak.

    Your Georgia Career Transformation

From Firefighting Delays to Designing Better Flow

The Shift Value Stream Mapping Delivers

Across Georgia, employers increasingly separate teams that can see and fix their value stream from those stuck reacting to daily problems. Here is the change value stream mapping makes.

    Today

You react to bottlenecks and delays with no full view of the flow

    After VSM

You see the whole flow on one map and act before problems escalate

    Today

Improvement ideas stay stuck in meetings with no shared method

    After VSM

You run structured mapping workshops that align the whole team

    Today

Waste hides inside handoffs, inventory and waiting time

    After VSM

You quantify waste with takt time, lead time and value-added ratio

    You master value stream mapping

    Before

Process knowledge lives in people's heads, not on paper

    Now you have

A clear current-state map anyone in the business can read

    Before

No agreed target for how the process should really run

    Now you have

A future-state map that sets a concrete improvement goal

    Before

Improvement effort spread thinly with little impact

    Now you have

Kaizen bursts focused where they cut the most waste

    Before

Skills tied to one employer or a single sector

    Now you have

A Lean capability valued across Georgian industry and beyond

"The difference between a team that fights fires and one that designs flow is a single map everyone can see."

The Value Stream Mapping Skills You Will BuildPractical Mapping You Can Apply at Work

In this programme you will learn to map an end-to-end value stream, expose waste, design an improved future state and turn it into an action plan. The skills below map directly to the six stages of value stream mapping.

    Map the Current State

Walk the value stream on a Gemba walk and capture real data, cycle time, changeover, uptime, inventory and the timeline, to draw an honest current-state map of how work flows today.

    Expose the Eight Wastes

Read the map to find overproduction, waiting, transport, excess inventory, motion, over-processing, defects and unused talent, the eight wastes of Lean summarised as DOWNTIME.

    Use Standard VSM Symbols

Apply the standard symbol set, process and data boxes, push and pull arrows, kanban, inventory triangles and Kaizen bursts, so any team can read your maps consistently.

    Calculate Takt Time and Flow

Work out takt time, process lead time and the value-added ratio, then locate the bottleneck that limits output and decide where flow and pull will have the biggest effect.

    Design the Future State

Use the eight future-state questions to design continuous flow, pull systems and supermarkets, levelling and a single pacemaker, then draw the leaner value stream you are aiming for.

    Plan and Sustain Improvement

Translate the future-state map into a sequenced roadmap of Kaizen events, set the metrics to track, and lock in gains with standard work so improvements do not slip back.

    Pricing

How much does Value Stream Mapping training cost in Georgia?

Pricing in Georgian lari varies by delivery mode, group size and whether you choose public or onsite corporate sessions, so exact figures are available on request. Contact a learning advisor for a tailored quote.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically covers instructor-led sessions, structured courseware, the standard VSM symbol reference, hands-on mapping exercises, templates, learner support and a course completion record from Invensis Learning.

Do you offer corporate or group pricing?

Yes. We offer volume-based pricing for teams, departments and multiple sites, delivered onsite in Georgia or live online. Ask about corporate group pricing for a quote built around your numbers.

Are online and onsite options priced differently?

They can be, as onsite delivery includes trainer travel and tailoring to your own processes while live online is often more flexible for individuals. Request a quote and we will confirm the option that fits your budget.

Is a completion record included in the price?

Yes. On finishing the programme you receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning. Note that this is a practical skills course, not a certification, so no formal credential or exam is involved.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for this training?

No. Value Stream Mapping is a non-assessed, practical skills course with no exam. You learn by drawing real current-state and future-state maps and discussing them as a group during the one-day programme.

Do I receive a certification after the course?

No formal certification or credential is awarded, because value stream mapping has no governing body or exam. You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning and, more importantly, a skill you can apply at work immediately.

How is learning reinforced without an exam?

Learning is reinforced through hands-on mapping exercises, worked examples and group discussion. You practise creating both a current-state and a future-state map for a realistic scenario, so you leave able to do the work, not just describe it.

What will I be able to do after completing it?

You will be able to select a product family, run a Gemba walk to collect data, draw a current-state map with standard symbols, identify waste and the bottleneck, design a future-state map, and build an implementation and Kaizen plan.

Does this help me progress to further Lean learning?

Yes. Value stream mapping is a strong foundation for further operational excellence learning such as Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt or Green Belt, Kaizen training and the 7 QC Tools, where VSM is a core tool.

    Course Content

What topics does the Value Stream Mapping course cover?

The course covers six stages: Lean foundations and when to use VSM, standard VSM symbols, creating the current-state map, analysing it for waste, designing the future-state map, and implementation planning to sustain improvement.

What are the eight wastes covered in the training?

You learn to spot the eight wastes of Lean, summarised as DOWNTIME: Defects, Overproduction, Waiting, Non-utilised talent, Transportation, Inventory, Motion and Extra processing, and to see how each one appears on a value stream map.

Does the course include hands-on mapping?

Yes. Throughout the day you build both a current-state and a future-state map for a realistic operational scenario, practising the symbols, data boxes, timeline and future-state design questions as you go.

    What learning materials are provided?

You receive structured courseware, a standard VSM symbol reference, mapping templates, worked examples and exercise materials that support step-by-step learning during and after the programme.

Is the content useful outside manufacturing?

Yes. While VSM began on the shop floor, the same method applies to logistics, healthcare, financial services and IT or DevOps delivery. The course shows how to map flow in both manufacturing and service settings.
