Construction Challenges Driving PMI-CP Demand in Fiji

    Contract and Claims Complexity

Fiji's donor-funded and government projects run under demanding contract terms, yet claims, variations and disputes cause cost and time overruns that skilled contract managers are hired to control.

PMI-CP builds contract and claims management skill

    Infrastructure Pipeline Pressure

Roads, water, health and education projects are scaling fast under the Fiji Social Infrastructure Programme, demanding project managers who can govern scope, budget and risk at pace.

PMI-CP builds scope, schedule and risk control

    Stakeholder and Regulatory Load

Major works involve owners, communities, regulators and donors, and weak engagement stalls approvals. PMI-CP builds the stakeholder discipline these projects need.

    Construction PM Talent Scarcity

Fiji has capable site professionals but few credentialed construction project managers, so PMI-CP holders stand out to contractors and public agencies.

PMI-CP makes certified construction leaders stand out

    Governance and Assurance Gaps

Funders expect strong reporting, audit and governance on capital projects, an area many delivery teams lack, and exactly what the PMI-CP governance domain develops.

PMI-CP builds governance and reporting capability

    Cost and Value Discipline

Tight public and donor budgets push firms to control scope creep and change orders, making contract and change management skill a priority hire.

Yes. With Fiji's roads, water, health and infrastructure pipeline growing, employers value professionals who can govern contracts, stakeholders and risk. PMI-CP is recognised through PMI's network in over 200 countries and helps you qualify for senior construction roles. Talk to a learning advisor to plan your path.

The credential is built on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline (ECO) and grounded in construction industry standards and the PMBOK Guide, Eighth Edition. This keeps your learning aligned with current global project management practice.

No. PMP is not a prerequisite for PMI-CP. You can apply based on your construction project management experience and education. The two are complementary, with PMP covering general project management and PMI-CP validating construction-specific expertise.

PMI-CP is valid for three years. To maintain it you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle, with at least 8 PDUs in each area, within the three-year cycle through PMI's continuing certification requirements.

    General

What is the PMI-CP certification and who is it for?

PMI-CP (PMI Construction Professional) is the Project Management Institute's specialist credential for the construction industry. It suits construction project managers, site managers, project engineers and consultants who want to validate construction-specific project delivery skills across the full project lifecycle.

Is the PMI-CP worth it for construction professionals in Fiji?

What standard is the PMI-CP based on?

The credential is built on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline (ECO) and grounded in construction industry standards and the PMBOK Guide, Eighth Edition. This keeps your learning aligned with current global project management practice.

Do I need a PMP before the PMI-CP?

No. PMP is not a prerequisite for PMI-CP. You can apply based on your construction project management experience and education. The two are complementary, with PMP covering general project management and PMI-CP validating construction-specific expertise.

How long is the PMI-CP valid and how do I renew it?

PMI-CP is valid for three years. To maintain it you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle, with at least 8 PDUs in each area, within the three-year cycle through PMI's continuing certification requirements.

    Pricing

What is included in the PMI-CP training fee?

The training fee typically covers PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, guidance on the four mandatory PMI-CP modules, exam application support and learner support with a course completion certificate. The PMI exam fee is billed separately by PMI. Request a quote for current pricing.

How much does PMI-CP training cost in Fiji?

Training is priced by format and is available on request for Fiji learners. The PMI exam fee is paid separately to PMI in USD under regional pricing, and PMI membership can reduce it. Contact us for a tailored quote.

Is the exam fee part of the training price?

No. PMI bills the PMI-CP exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing, with member and non-member rates. PMI membership provides access to resources and can lower the exam cost. Verify current fees on pmi.org before applying.

Do you offer corporate or group pricing?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for construction teams, PMOs and business units in Fiji. Ask about corporate pricing for a tailored quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

How long is the PMI-CP exam and how many questions are there?

The PMI-CP exam has 120 questions and a time limit of 230 minutes (3 hours 50 minutes). It is closed book and uses multiple-choice formats, including single-answer and multiple-answer questions.

What domains does the PMI-CP exam cover?

The exam covers four domains from the ECO: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%). Contracts Management is the largest, reflecting its central role in construction.

Where can I take the PMI-CP exam?

You can sit it online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done through PMI's portal or the Pearson VUE website within your one-year eligibility period.

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all four domains.

What are the eligibility requirements and how many attempts do I get?

You must complete four mandatory self-paced PMI-CP modules plus meet one experience and education set, for example a bachelor's degree with 36 months of construction project management experience and 35 contact hours of PM education. You get up to three attempts within a one-year eligibility window.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the PMI-CP training?

You will learn to select and administer construction contracts, manage change orders and claims, engage stakeholders and regulators, control scope, schedule and risk, and establish project governance, mapped to the four ECO domains across the construction project lifecycle.

Do I need prior experience to join the training?

Anyone can enrol in the training. To sit the PMI-CP exam, PMI requires construction project management experience plus completion of the four mandatory modules, but the course itself welcomes site and project professionals building toward the credential.

    What learning resources are provided?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, references to the PMI-CP ECO and Handbook, practice questions, mock exams, templates and quizzes to reinforce each domain and build exam readiness.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full-length mock exams aligned to the 120-question, 230-minute format, helping you identify weak areas and build confidence before exam day.

Is the courseware aligned with the current PMI-CP syllabus?

Yes. The courseware follows the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and is grounded in construction standards and the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition, so your preparation reflects the latest exam requirements.

How do I enrol in the PMI-CP course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. See upcoming batches to get started.

    What training formats are available?

We offer live online (live virtual) instructor-led training, classroom sessions and customised corporate group training, so you can choose the format that fits your schedule in Fiji.
