What Is Kanban and Why Teams in Fiji Use ItUntitledA Practical Introduction

Kanban training in Fiji gives you a visual, pull-based way to manage work so that teams deliver faster with far less overload. The Kanban Training course, rooted in the Toyota Production System where Taiichi Ohno first used kanban signals, teaches you to make work visible, limit work in progress and drive smooth flow. You learn both sides of Kanban. On the factory side, this means production and withdrawal kanban, supermarkets and just-in-time replenishment that produces only to real demand. On the knowledge-work side, formalised by David J. Anderson for software, IT and service teams, it means Kanban boards, WIP limits and flow metrics. The programme suits operations and production managers, supply chain professionals, Agile coaches, IT and delivery managers, and anyone in Fiji's growing BPO, manufacturing and technology sectors. This is a practical, one-day (8-hour) programme built around real design exercises, with no formal test. On completion you receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning and skills you can put to work immediately.

What You Gain from Learning KanbanFor Your Career and Your Team

    For Individuals

    For Individuals

Kanban training builds capability you can apply the next working day, whether you run a production line, a service desk or an Agile delivery team. You learn to visualise workflow, limit work in progress and improve flow so work moves smoothly from request to done. Whether you manage operations in export manufacturing, coordinate a BPO or KPO service team, or lead software delivery in Suva or Nadi, this training gives you a shared, practical system for getting more done with less waste.

If you want a skill that travels across industries and shows up in daily results, Kanban is a strong choice. You gain hands-on practice in board design, WIP limits, kanban sizing and flow metrics, all reinforced through realistic exercises.

    • Manage work visually so nothing is hidden and every blocker is seen early
    • Cut overload by setting WIP limits that help you finish before you start more
    • Design manufacturing pull systems that slash excess inventory and overproduction
    • Forecast delivery with confidence using lead time, cycle time and throughput
    • Read a cumulative flow diagram to spot bottlenecks before they bite
    • Apply Scrumban and flow-based delivery in Agile software and IT teams
    • Gain an in-demand skill across Fiji's BPO, manufacturing and tech employers
    • Walk away with a course completion record and skills you can use at once
    For Organizations

    For Organizations

Kanban group training helps organisations lift flow and predictability by equipping whole teams with a shared, practical system. The training can be delivered for production teams, service and BPO groups, IT and delivery teams, or cross-functional units. For organisations under pressure to do more with limited resources, Kanban offers a scalable, low-cost way to reduce waste and improve delivery across the operation.

If your teams start more than they finish and delivery dates keep slipping, Kanban gives everyone a visible board, sensible WIP limits and real flow data. Senior teams gain a common approach to balancing demand against capacity.

    • Give teams one visual language for managing and prioritising work
    • Reduce work in progress and multitasking to lift delivery speed
    • Cut inventory and overproduction in manufacturing pull operations
    • Improve predictability and meet Australian and New Zealand client SLAs
    • Surface bottlenecks with flow metrics instead of firefighting late
    • Standardise Kanban practice across sites, business units and shifts
    • Tailor delivery to your own real workflows during the exercises
    • Build lasting in-house capability with flexible group training

Skills You Will Build with KanbanHands-On and Ready to Apply

This programme turns Kanban theory into capability you can apply straight away. Through hands-on design exercises you learn to visualise work, size pull systems, limit work in progress and read flow metrics across both manufacturing and knowledge-work settings.

Design and Run a Kanban Board

Learn to build a Kanban board that mirrors your real workflow, with columns, swimlanes, classes of service and a clear Definition of Done, so the whole team can see work move from request to delivery.

    Set and Manage WIP Limits

Set work-in-progress limits that expose bottlenecks and stop overload. You practise the stop-starting, start-finishing discipline that turns a simple task board into a true Kanban system.

    Build Manufacturing Pull Systems

Understand production and withdrawal kanban, supermarkets, one-bin and two-bin systems and e-Kanban, and how the two-kanban loop creates self-pacing, just-in-time pull production.

    Size a Kanban System Correctly

Calculate kanban quantities and the number of cards using takt time, demand rate, replenishment lead time and safety factor, so inventory is capped by design and never runs the line short.

    Measure and Improve Flow

Measure lead time, cycle time and throughput, apply Little's Law, and read a cumulative flow diagram to find where work piles up, then improve with data rather than guesswork.

    Apply Kanban in Agile Delivery

Use Kanban for knowledge work with Scrumban and Kanban in SAFe, and manage backlogs on digital tools such as Jira, Trello and Azure DevOps to speed up software and IT delivery.

    Assessment

Is there a test at the end of the training?

No. This is a practical skills programme with no formal test and no external qualification. Learning is reinforced through hands-on Kanban design exercises, worked examples and group discussion during the one-day session.

How is my learning reinforced during the course?

Your learning is reinforced through practical activities: a push versus pull exercise, kanban quantity calculation, kanban loop design, Kanban board design, WIP limit setting and cumulative flow diagram interpretation, all applied to realistic scenarios.

What will I receive after completing the training?

On completing the programme you receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning. More importantly, you leave with practical Kanban skills you can apply to your own manufacturing or knowledge-work environment straight away.

Do I need to renew anything after the course?

No. There is nothing to renew or maintain. The skills you learn are immediately applicable and do not expire, so you can keep using and refining your Kanban practice for as long as you like.

Will I be able to design a Kanban system after the training?

Yes. By the end you can design a Kanban board with WIP limits and classes of service, size a manufacturing pull system, calculate kanban quantities, measure lead time, cycle time and throughput, and read a cumulative flow diagram.

    Course Content

What topics does the Kanban training cover?

The syllabus covers Kanban origins and pull production, manufacturing Kanban types and mechanics, kanban system sizing and implementation, knowledge-work boards and WIP limits, flow metrics and the cumulative flow diagram, and implementing and sustaining Kanban.

What skills will I be able to apply at work?

You will visualise workflow on a Kanban board, set WIP limits, design pull loops and supermarkets, calculate kanban quantities, measure flow, interpret a cumulative flow diagram, and apply Scrumban in Agile delivery, all skills you can use immediately.

Which digital Kanban tools are covered?

The knowledge-work modules reference popular digital Kanban tools such as Jira, Trello and Azure DevOps, alongside physical boards. You learn the principles of board design so you can apply them in whichever tool your team uses.

    Are practical exercises included?

Yes. Hands-on exercises run throughout the day, including push versus pull identification, kanban quantity calculation, kanban loop and board design, WIP limit setting and CFD interpretation, so you practise the methods on realistic scenarios.

What framework and origins does the course reference?

The course is grounded in Kanban's roots in the Toyota Production System, where Taiichi Ohno introduced kanban signals, and in the knowledge-work Kanban method formalised by David J. Anderson. It also positions Kanban alongside Scrum, SAFe and Lean.
