What Is RCA and What Will You Learn?UntitledA Complete Problem-Solving Toolkit

Root Cause Analysis (RCA) training is a practical, hands-on programme that teaches teams how to move past quick fixes and eliminate the underlying causes of problems, defects and incidents for good. Grounded in the recognised RCA discipline used across quality management, Lean, Six Sigma and safety investigation, it gives you a full toolkit rather than a single technique. Across one focused day you learn to define a problem precisely, gather evidence, and apply the 5 Whys, the Fishbone (Ishikawa) diagram, Fault Tree Analysis, FMEA and the 8D method, choosing the right tool for each problem's complexity and severity. You also learn to build corrective actions that stick and verify they have actually worked, in line with the ISO 9001:2015 corrective action requirement (Clause 10.2). For quality engineers, operations leaders and improvement professionals across Finland's manufacturing, technology and process industries, RCA skills turn recurring firefighting into permanent prevention. There is no exam; you leave able to run investigations and lead corrective action from day one.

Why RCA Skills Are Worth BuildingReal Gains for You and Your Team

    For Individuals

    For Individuals

This RCA training helps quality engineers, operations professionals, team leaders and improvement practitioners build a complete, practical problem-solving toolkit. You learn when and how to use each RCA method on real problems of different complexity. Whether you investigate manufacturing defects, service failures, safety incidents or IT outages, the skills transfer directly to your role and to any sector.

If recurring problems, audit findings or customer complaints are eating into your time, structured RCA gives you a repeatable way to find and remove their causes, then verify the fix. You leave ready to apply it immediately, with no exam to sit.

    • Get to the true cause of problems instead of firefighting the same issues again and again
    • Apply the right tool for each problem, from the 5 Whys to Fault Tree Analysis and 8D
    • Lead structured investigations and facilitate Fishbone workshops with confidence
    • Write corrective actions that hold and prove they have actually removed the cause
    • Support ISO 9001 corrective action and CAPA work valued across Finnish industry
    • Add a practical, cross-sector skill that strengthens quality, operations and safety roles
    • Move from reactive problem-fixing to proactive prevention in your day-to-day work
    For Organizations

    For Organizations

RCA group training helps organisations across Finland embed a consistent, tool-based approach to investigating problems and preventing recurrence. Sessions can be delivered for quality, manufacturing, engineering, safety or IT teams. Because exercises use your own real problems, teams generate corrective actions during the training itself.

For organisations under pressure to improve first-time quality, meet ISO 9001 and CAPA expectations, or respond to customer 8D requests, shared RCA capability turns scattered firefighting into disciplined, systemic prevention.

    • Cut the cost of recurring defects, rework, incidents and customer complaints
    • Build one shared problem-solving language across quality, operations and safety teams
    • Strengthen ISO 9001 corrective action and CAPA compliance with structured investigation
    • Equip teams to close supplier 8D reports required across automotive and marine supply chains
    • Turn lessons learned into systemic improvements that prevent recurrence
    • Train intact teams on your own live problems for immediate, measurable value
    • Standardise corrective action across sites, business units and shifts

The Problems Driving RCA Demand in Finland

    Recurring Defects and Rework

Finnish manufacturers face margin pressure, yet the same defects and rework keep returning when teams treat symptoms. Structured RCA finds and removes the underlying cause.

RCA builds true root cause skills

    ISO 9001 Corrective Action Gaps

ISO 9001:2015 Clause 10.2 requires organisations to determine causes and prevent recurrence, but many corrective actions stay weak. RCA gives auditable, tool-based investigation.

    RCA supports ISO 9001 compliance

    Supplier 8D Pressure

Automotive and marine OEMs demand disciplined 8D reports for every quality escape. Suppliers without structured problem-solving struggle to respond credibly and on time.

RCA teaches the full 8D method

    Safety and Process Incidents

Energy, chemicals and heavy industry must trace incidents and near misses to systemic causes. RCA provides Fault Tree Analysis and event mapping for safety-critical events.

    RCA builds incident investigation skill

    CAPA Rigour in Life Sciences

Medical device and pharma teams under MDR and GMP must show rigorous root cause work behind every CAPA. RCA provides the investigative backbone regulators expect.

    RCA strengthens CAPA investigation

    Problem-Solving Skills Shortage

Finland has deep engineering talent but fewer people trained to facilitate structured investigations. RCA capability makes teams faster and more confident at prevention.

    RCA closes the problem-solving gap

It covers a full toolkit, including the 5 Whys, Fishbone diagram, Fault Tree Analysis, FMEA and the 8D method.

The training suits quality engineers and managers, production and operations professionals, maintenance and reliability engineers, EHS and safety managers, continuous improvement practitioners and IT service managers. Anyone responsible for investigating problems and preventing their recurrence will benefit.

Yes. Root Cause Analysis is a cross-sector skill valued by Finnish employers in manufacturing, energy, medical devices and technology. It strengthens quality, operations, reliability and safety roles by making you the person who can lead structured investigations and corrective action.

No. There are no prerequisites. Some familiarity with quality or process improvement helps, but the course introduces every RCA method from first principles, so beginners and experienced professionals both gain practical, workplace-ready skills.

You learn five core tools and when to use each: the 5 Whys for simple problems, the Fishbone (Ishikawa) diagram for multi-cause problems, Fault Tree Analysis for safety-critical events, FMEA for prioritising corrective actions, and the 8D method for team-based, structured problem-solving.

    General

What is Root Cause Analysis training?

Root Cause Analysis training is a practical, one-day programme that teaches you to investigate problems, identify their underlying causes and put in place corrective actions that prevent recurrence. It covers a full toolkit, including the 5 Whys, Fishbone diagram, Fault Tree Analysis, FMEA and the 8D method.

Who should attend RCA training in Finland?

The training suits quality engineers and managers, production and operations professionals, maintenance and reliability engineers, EHS and safety managers, continuous improvement practitioners and IT service managers. Anyone responsible for investigating problems and preventing their recurrence will benefit.

Is RCA training worth it for my career?

Yes. Root Cause Analysis is a cross-sector skill valued by Finnish employers in manufacturing, energy, medical devices and technology. It strengthens quality, operations, reliability and safety roles by making you the person who can lead structured investigations and corrective action.

Do I need prior quality experience to attend?

No. There are no prerequisites. Some familiarity with quality or process improvement helps, but the course introduces every RCA method from first principles, so beginners and experienced professionals both gain practical, workplace-ready skills.

Which RCA tools does the course cover?

You learn five core tools and when to use each: the 5 Whys for simple problems, the Fishbone (Ishikawa) diagram for multi-cause problems, Fault Tree Analysis for safety-critical events, FMEA for prioritising corrective actions, and the 8D method for team-based, structured problem-solving.

    Pricing

How much does RCA training cost in Finland?

Pricing depends on the delivery format, group size and whether the training is public or run on site for your team. Fees are available on request. Contact a learning advisor for a tailored quote for individual or group training.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically includes instructor-led training across all RCA modules, hands-on exercises and case studies, downloadable learning resources, learner support and a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning. Request a quote for the full inclusions.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for quality, operations, engineering and safety teams. Ask about corporate or group pricing for a tailored quote for your organisation.

Are there payment or instalment options?

Yes. We accept common payment methods and offer flexible options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the arrangement that suits you or your team.

Is there an extra fee to complete the course?

No. This is a non-certification skills course, so there is no separate exam or examination fee. The training fee covers your place on the programme and the course completion certificate. Request a quote to see current pricing.

    Assessment

Is there an exam or formal assessment?

No. RCA training is a non-certification skills course with no exam. Learning is reinforced through hands-on tool exercises, case study investigations and team discussion, so you apply each method to realistic problems during the programme itself.

What do I receive on completing the course?

You receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning. More importantly, you leave with a practical RCA toolkit you can apply immediately to investigate problems, run corrective action and prevent recurrence in your organisation.

How is learning reinforced during the course?

Through practice, not testing. You work through Is/Is Not problem definition, a 5 Whys investigation, a Fishbone workshop, an 8D report and corrective action planning on realistic scenarios, so the tools stay with you after the training.

Do I need to renew anything after the course?

No. There is no renewal, and the skills do not expire. The RCA methods and tools you learn are immediately applicable and stay useful across roles, sectors and organisations for the long term.

What will I be able to do after the training?

You will be able to define a problem precisely, apply the 5 Whys and Fishbone analysis, use Fault Tree Analysis and FMEA, complete an 8D report, and develop and verify corrective actions in line with the ISO 9001:2015 corrective action requirement (Clause 10.2).

    Course Content

What topics are covered in RCA training?

The programme covers RCA principles and problem types, problem definition and data collection, the 5 Whys, the Fishbone diagram and Fault Tree Analysis, FMEA, the full 8D method, and corrective action development, verification and building an RCA culture.

How long is the RCA training?

The training runs as a focused one-day, eight-hour programme. It can also be delivered as two half-days, giving the same eight hours of content, to suit working teams and shift patterns.

    Are there hands-on exercises?

Yes. Hands-on exercises and case study investigations run throughout the day. For corporate sessions, exercises can be built on your organisation's own real problems, so teams generate usable corrective actions during the training.

Does the course cover the 8D method and FMEA?

Yes. You work through all eight disciplines of the 8D method, from containment and root cause to permanent corrective action and prevention, and you learn to use FMEA to prioritise corrective actions by risk for safety-critical problems.

Does RCA training help with ISO 9001 corrective action?

Yes. RCA directly supports the ISO 9001:2015 corrective action requirement (Clause 10.2), which asks organisations to determine causes and prevent recurrence. The training gives you a structured, auditable, tool-based approach to fulfil it, and it also underpins CAPA in regulated industries.
