Construction Challenges Fuelling PMI-CP Demand in Spain

    Contract and Claims Complexity

Construction disputes, variations and claims drain margins on Spanish projects. PMI-CP puts contracts management, the largest exam domain at 50%, at the centre of skilled delivery.

PMI-CP builds contract and claims management skill

    Construction Talent Shortage

Spain needs over 700,000 more construction professionals, and credentialed project leaders are especially scarce. Certified PMI-CP holders stand out in a tight market.

PMI-CP makes certified project leaders stand out

    EU-Funded Delivery Pressure

NextGenerationEU deadlines push rail, energy and rehabilitation programmes to deliver fast. Employers need leaders who can govern scope, schedule and risk under scrutiny.

PMI-CP builds scope, schedule and governance skill

    Ageing Workforce Gap

Only 10.3% of Spain's construction workforce is under 30, while over-55s near 22%. Structured certification helps pass contract and governance expertise to the next generation.

PMI-CP helps transfer contract and governance expertise

    Stakeholder and Permit Coordination

Owners, regulators and communities all shape project outcomes. The stakeholder engagement domain (30%) builds the coordination skill that keeps complex builds on track.

    PMI-CP builds stakeholder engagement skill

    Cost and Margin Pressure

Commodity-price volatility and labour costs squeeze contractor margins. Portfolio-grade prioritisation and risk control help teams protect value across the project mix.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

PMI-CP is the Project Management Institute's specialist certification for the construction industry. It validates your ability to manage contracts, stakeholders, scope and governance across four exam domains, and requires completing four mandatory self-paced modules before you apply.

    General

    What is the PMI-CP certification?

PMI-CP is the Project Management Institute's specialist certification for the construction industry. It validates your ability to manage contracts, stakeholders, scope and governance across four exam domains, and requires completing four mandatory self-paced modules before you apply.

Who should take PMI-CP certification training in Spain?

The training suits construction project managers, site and project engineers moving into project management, client-side or owner's representatives, and construction consultants. It is aimed at practitioners who deliver building, civil or infrastructure projects in Spain.

Is PMI-CP worth it for construction professionals in Spain?

Yes. Construction project managers in Spain earn around 60,373 EUR on average and directors near 87,402 EUR, and demand is strong as NextGenerationEU investment and a 700,000-plus talent shortage push employers to hire credentialed leaders. Talk to a learning advisor to plan your path.

Do I need a PMP before taking PMI-CP?

No. PMP is not a prerequisite for PMI-CP. You can apply based on your construction project management experience and education. The two credentials are complementary, with PMP covering general project management and PMI-CP validating construction-specific expertise.

How long is the PMI-CP certification valid?

PMI-CP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle within each three-year cycle, with a minimum of eight PDUs in each area. The 56 PDUs from the four prerequisite modules can be applied toward renewal.

    Pricing

How much does PMI-CP training cost in Spain?

Training fees vary by format and are available on request in euros. The PMI exam fee is billed separately by PMI in USD under regional pricing and is not part of the training fee. Request a quote for current pricing and upcoming batches.

What is included in the PMI-CP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, downloadable templates, guidance on the four prerequisite modules and the PMI-CP application, learner support, and a course completion certificate with contact hours.

Is the PMI-CP exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing. For reference, it is around USD 520 for PMI members and USD 670 for non-members, though prices vary, so confirm current fees at pmi.org before applying.

Do you offer corporate or group discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for construction teams, PMOs and business units across Spain. Contact us for a tailored group quote.

    What payment methods are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam has 120 questions and a duration of 230 minutes (3 hours 50 minutes). It is closed book with multiple-choice questions in single-answer and multiple-answer formats, based on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline.

What are the four PMI-CP exam domains and weights?

The exam covers four domains per the current ECO: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%). Contracts management is the largest and most heavily weighted domain.

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all four domains.

Where can I take the PMI-CP exam?

You can take the exam online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctored system or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done through the Pearson VUE website or the PMI portal within your one-year eligibility period.

How many attempts do I get if I do not pass?

You are allowed up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility window from the date your application is approved. Reexamination fees apply to later attempts, so confirm current amounts at pmi.org.

    Course Content

What topics does the PMI-CP training cover?

The training covers the four ECO domains: Contracts Management, Stakeholder Engagement, Strategy and Scope Management, and Project Governance, aligned to the current PMBOK Guide and construction industry practice, plus exam strategy and application guidance.

What are the four mandatory prerequisite modules?

Before applying, all candidates complete four self-paced modules in any order: Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management. Each is a 6 to 10 hour commitment and awards 14 PDUs, 56 PDUs in total.

Does the training meet the 35 contact hours requirement?

The instructor-led programme provides 32 contact hours, which is close to but below the 35 contact hours of project management education required across all eligibility sets. Check with us whether supplementary self-study is credited toward the 35-hour requirement.

    What learning resources are provided?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, references to the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and Handbook, practice questions, mock exams, downloadable construction management templates and topic-wise quizzes to support your preparation.

Is the courseware aligned to the current PMI-CP ECO?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and the current edition of the PMBOK Guide, alongside recognised construction industry standards and practice.

    Enrollment

What are the eligibility requirements for PMI-CP?

You must complete all four self-paced modules and meet one of three experience sets: a secondary diploma with 60 months of construction PM experience, a bachelor's degree with 36 months, or a GAC-accredited degree with 24 months, each within the past 10 years, plus 35 contact hours of PM education.

How do I enrol in the PMI-CP course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Our team can guide you through the PMI-CP application steps.

    What training formats are available?

We offer live virtual (online) instructor-led training, classroom training, and customised corporate group training, so you can choose the format that best fits your schedule and learning preferences in Spain.

Can I reschedule or transfer to another batch?

Yes. Flexi options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch, and selected plans let you attend the training twice. Contact our support team to arrange this.

What is the refund or cancellation policy?

Refunds and cancellations are handled per our published policy, and selected plans include a money-back option. Reach out to our learning advisors for the details that apply to your enrolment.
