How long is the PMI-CP exam and how many questions does it have?

The PMI-CP exam has 120 questions and a duration of 230 minutes, which is 3 hours 50 minutes. It is closed book with multiple-choice questions in single-answer and multiple-answer formats.

What domains does the PMI-CP exam cover?

The exam covers four domains from the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%), and Project Governance (5%).

What are the prerequisites for the PMI-CP?

You must complete four mandatory self-paced modules and meet one of three experience sets: a secondary diploma with 60 months of construction PM experience, a bachelor's degree with 36 months, or a GAC-accredited degree with 24 months. All sets require 35 contact hours of project management education.

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so focus on mastery across all four domains.

Where can I take the exam and how many attempts do I get?

You can sit the exam online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Up to three attempts are permitted within the one-year eligibility period from application approval.

Does this training meet the 35 contact hours requirement?

The instructor-led programme provides 32 contact hours, which is close to but below the 35 contact hours of project management education required across all three eligibility sets. Check with us whether supplementary self-study or pre-reading is credited toward the 35-hour requirement.

What will I learn in the PMI-CP training?

You will learn to manage construction contracts and claims, engage stakeholders, control strategy, scope, schedule and risk, and govern projects. The programme maps to the four PMI-CP domains and includes exam preparation and application guidance.

What are the four prerequisite modules for the PMI-CP?

Before applying, you complete four self-paced modules in any order, each awarding 14 PDUs for 56 in total: Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management.

Do I need prior experience, or can a beginner join the training?

Anyone can join the training. To sit the PMI-CP exam, PMI requires construction project management experience under one of three eligibility sets, so the credential itself targets experienced practitioners rather than complete beginners.

What standard is the courseware aligned to?

The courseware is aligned to the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and its four construction domains, underpinned by the PMBOK Guide, so your preparation matches what PMI actually tests.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full-length mock exams aligned to the 120-question, closed-book format, plus topic-wise quizzes to help you find weak areas and build exam readiness.
