What Is Value Stream Mapping?UntitledA Lean Lens on Your End-To-End Flow

Value Stream Mapping Training in the Dominican Republic is a hands-on, one-day Lean programme that shows you how to see and improve the way work really flows from concept to customer. Value Stream Mapping (VSM) is a Lean technique rooted in the Toyota Production System, formalised for practitioners by Mike Rother and John Shook in their guide Learning to See (1998). Over about eight hours you learn to draw a current-state map, expose the eight wastes of Lean, design a future-state map, and turn it into a practical implementation plan. Learning is reinforced through hands-on mapping exercises rather than theory alone, and you finish with a course completion record from Invensis Learning. The programme suits operations managers, industrial engineers and improvement professionals in the Dominican Republic's fast-growing free-zone manufacturing, medical-device and logistics sectors, where leaner flow directly lifts throughput and cost performance.

Why Dominican Operations Teams Need Value-Stream Skills

    Efficiency Pressure in Free Zones

Free-zone exports rose 7.8% in early 2026, and manufacturers must lift throughput without adding cost. Mapping the value stream reveals the waste that quietly erodes margin, so teams who can map flow are in demand.

VSM exposes the waste that erodes margin

    The Advanced Manufacturing Shift

As the Dominican Republic courts tech-led, higher-value manufacturing, plants need leaner, better-balanced processes. Value Stream Mapping gives teams a clear method to redesign flow when new product lines arrive.

VSM helps redesign flow for new lines

    Medical-Device Quality Demands

Medical-device and pharma makers, the fastest-growing free-zone sector, run tightly controlled processes. Mapping value streams helps cut lead time and inventory while protecting quality and compliance.

VSM cuts lead time while protecting quality

    Supply Chain and Logistics Complexity

Ports, distribution and cross-border logistics create long, variable lead times. VSM makes material and information flow visible so bottlenecks and hand-offs can be found and fixed.

    VSM makes hidden hand-offs visible

    Scarce Lean Facilitation Skills

Many operations teams know Lean in theory but lack people who can facilitate a real mapping session. Professionals who can lead current- and future-state mapping stand out to local employers.

VSM facilitators stand out to employers

    Labour Cost and Talent Retention

With most free-zone roles labour-intensive, wasted motion and rework are costly. VSM helps teams design flow that uses talent well, a priority as employers compete for skilled staff.

Your fee typically includes instructor-led training across all six VSM modules, structured courseware, hands-on mapping exercises, downloadable templates, learner support, and a course completion record from Invensis Learning.

Do you offer group or corporate pricing?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with volume-based pricing and customised schedules for operations, quality and engineering teams. Ask about corporate pricing for your organisation.

Are there savings for training several colleagues together?

Group rates are available when you train several colleagues at once, which is also the most effective way to learn VSM, since a team can map a real value stream during the session. Request a group quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major cards and bank transfers, and instalment options are available on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Assessment

How is my learning assessed on this course?

There is no formal test. Learning is reinforced through hands-on current-state and future-state mapping exercises and group discussion during the one-day programme, so you practise the technique as you learn it.

What do I receive after completing the training?

You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning confirming you have completed the Value Stream Mapping programme. The practical skills you gain are immediately usable in your workplace.

Does this course award a formal credential?

This is a practical skills programme, so it does not award a formal credential from an external body. Its value is the hands-on VSM capability you can apply straight away, alongside the course completion record you receive.

Will the skills I learn become outdated?

No. Value Stream Mapping is a stable, well-established Lean technique. Once you learn to map, analyse and redesign value streams, the skill stays useful throughout your career with no renewal needed.

Can I apply VSM at work straight after the course?

Yes. You leave able to facilitate a mapping session for your own team, build current- and future-state maps, and turn them into an implementation plan for real improvement projects.

    Course Content

What topics does the Value Stream Mapping course cover?

The programme covers Lean foundations, standard VSM symbols, building and analysing a current-state map, designing a future-state map, and implementation planning, across six modules in one day.

Will I practise drawing maps during the training?

Yes. You create both a current-state and a future-state map for a realistic scenario, using standard VSM symbols and data boxes, so you leave having actually mapped a value stream.

    What Lean concepts are included?

You learn the five Lean principles, the eight wastes (DOWNTIME), value-added versus non-value-added work, takt time, cycle time, lead time, and push versus pull flow, all applied through mapping.

    How long is the training?

The programme runs for one day, about eight hours, and can also be delivered as two half-day sessions. It covers all six modules with mapping exercises throughout.

    What materials will I receive?

You get structured courseware, standard VSM symbol references, downloadable mapping templates, and worked examples you can reuse when you facilitate mapping sessions at work.

    Enrollment

How do I enrol in the Value Stream Mapping course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format and dates, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Talk to an advisor if you need help choosing.

    What training formats are available?

The course is available as live online (virtual instructor-led) training, in-person classroom sessions, and on-site corporate delivery for teams across the Dominican Republic.

Can the course be delivered on site for my team?

Yes. On-site corporate delivery lets your team map a real value stream from your own operation, which is the most effective way to learn. Ask about on-site training for your organisation.

    When can I start?

Public sessions run on a regular schedule, and corporate sessions are arranged around your team's availability. Contact us to see upcoming dates and book your place.

    Can I reschedule my booking?
